Reigning CAA Champions Announce 2021-22 Slate

TOWSON, Md. -- Getting set for defense of its first-ever Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championship, the Towson University men's swimming and diving program has announced its 2021-22 schedule.

Head coach Jake Shrum made the announcement Wednesday afternoon.

The defending champions open the season on Oct. 9 at Burdick Pool with an intersquad meet, coinciding with the women's program season opener against James Madison. Diving is set for a 10 a.m. start.

The Tigers then make their way to Annapolis, Maryland for a tri-meet at the United States Naval Academy, joining fellow Baltimore program Johns Hopkins at Navy. Action is set for 4 p.m. at the Mids' Lejeune Hall.

Mid-way through October the Tigers head to historic Williamsburg, Virginia for a dual at William & Mary for a 1 p.m. meet on Oct. 23. Towson continues its road swing on Nov. 6 with a trip across Baltimore County for a dual at UMBC, getting under at 1 p.m.

Towson's final event of the 2021 calendar year sends the Tigers up the Susquehanna River to the Bucknell Invitational in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. The Invitational runs from Nov. 19-21, with 10 a.m. preliminary start times each day, with finals set for 6 p.m.

The Tigers will swim three duals in January, leading off on Jan. 19 at Loyola University Maryland at noon, followed by a trip to Philadelphia to take on Drexel University on Jan. 22. Towson rounds out the regular season on Jan. 29 with its final home dual of the year, taking on the University of Delaware, leading with diving at 10 a.m.

Capping the regular season, several competitors will head to Charlottesville, Virginia for the Cavalier Invitational, hosted at the University of Virginia from Feb. 4-6.

True defense of its first CAA Championship begins on Feb. 16 for the 2022 CAA Championships, hosted at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center. The league meet runs from Feb. 16-19.
