TOWSON, Md. – A pair of 20-point scoring efforts led the Towson women's basketball team over Northeastern on Friday night, 86-81.
Aleah Nelson came close to a triple-double performance, securing 24 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. The point guard also added three steals.
Allie Kubek also dropped her third double-double of the season with 22 points and 11 boards. Kylie Kornegay-Lucas (15) and Rayne Tucker (11) also reached double-digits.

How it Happened
- Northeastern got out to an early 9-0 lead. Ryann Evans ended the streak though, with a layup.
- Towson came back to go on a 10-0 run, hitting 3-of-3 from the floor to tie up the score at 10-10. They simultaneously held the Huskies scoreless in the span.
- The Tigers stayed in control to end the first quarter and end with the 22-15 edge.
- Northeastern scored five points early in the second to chip at the Tigers' lead and make the score 24-22. Towson rallied to hit 4-of-4 from the floor to take the 34-26 advantage.
- Kubek hit a big three-point play in the paint to give her team the 10-point lead, 40-30. She followed up with a three-pointer to put her in double figures just before halftime with 13 points.
- Nelson and Kubek combined for 16 points in the second period, scoring eight a piece. Nelson also went 2-for-3 from deep to end the first half with four three-pointers. The black & gold went into the locker room up at the half, 45-40.
- Both teams got to the rim before going scoreless after the opening 1:30 of play in the third. At the 4:57 media timeout, Towson maintained the 57-48 advantage.
- With just under 2:00 to go, the Tigers held the Huskies to 0-of-4 from the floor, securing the double-digit 11-point lead, 63-52. Northeastern came back to cut Towson's lead to single digits to end the third however, 65-56.
- The Tigers' defense continued to shine in the final period, as the team held Northeastern to just one field goal through the first 4:00 of play.
- The Huskies played it tough down the stretch, but the black & gold hung strong, not letting the score get within less than five points. Kornegay-Lucas came alive to end the contest, collecting 12 points in the fourth quarter alone.
- Northeastern attempted to rally once again in the final minutes of action, hitting one from the field with under :30 but it wasn't enough as Towson came out with the 86-81 win.
Inside the Numbers
- Friday night's win marks the 70th of head coach Diane Richardson's career.
- As one of the top-10 rebounding teams in the country, the black & gold grabbed 46 rebounds. The Tigers have now secured 40+ rebounds in 16 games this season and the last six consecutive outings.
- At least two Tigers have cracked double figures in 17 of 18 outings so far this season as four scored in double figures against the Huskies. Nelson and Kubek have now scored 10+ points in 16 of 18 contests. When Towson lands four or more players in double-digits, they are 9-0.
- Tucker hit her first career three-point field goal in the second quarter of play. She ended with 11 total points.
- Nelson 24-point performance marks her fourth 20+ outing of the season and sixth of her career. Kubek's 22 points marks her fourth game over 20 points of the year and fifth of her career.
- Kubek's double-double is her fourth of the season and fifth of her career.
- The Tigers landed five blocks, as Kubek and Tucker each earned two. Anissa Rivera also added one.
- The black & gold forced 17 turnovers to score 17 points. The team also grabbed six total steals.
