BOX SCORE TOWSON, Md. – The Towson women's basketball team defeated Hofstra on Sunday afternoon, 86-45 to earn its ninth win in SECU Arena this season and remain unbeaten at home.
Aleah Nelson led the way for the Tigers with 19 points and five assists. She also shot 4-for-8 from deep. Anissa Rivera earned her fourth double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds. In addition, Skye Williams and Allie Kubek chipped in 10 points apiece.
Towson dominated on the defensive end as well, earning 58 total rebounds. In addition to Rivera's game-high 10 boards, Ryann Evans added nine total rebounds. Kylie Kornegay-Lucas also grabbed two of the team's eight steals.
With the victory, the black & gold are now 15-4 overall and 9-0 in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) to make them the fastest Towson team in the NCAA era to reach 15 wins.

How it Happened
- Just two minutes into the contest, Hofstra took the 4-2 edge, their only lead of the game. Nelson quickly put the Tigers in front with a three-pointer to make the score 5-4. Gary and Kubek piled on with three's of their own to take the 11-4 lead.
- The teams traded baskets through the rest of opening period as the black & gold ended the first 10:00 up by six points, 19-13.
- Towson forced Hofstra into two shot clock violations early in the second, holding the Pride scoreless until the 5:38 mark. In the span, the Tigers took the commanding 25-15 advantage.
- Quinzia Fulmore entered the game out of the media timeout and provided an immediate spark, kicking off an 8-0 run for the Tigers. In the 3:10 span, the black & gold also forced four turnovers.
- The Pride scored just a field goal and a free throw for only three points in the second quarter.
- Neither team found the rim in the final minutes of the first half, but Towson still took the 19-point lead, 35-16, into the locker room. Nelson ended the first two quarters with eight points and four assists while Evans added six boards.
- Towson came out of halftime strong, starting the third quarter off on a dominant 20-0 run. Hofstra ended the streak just under the halfway point of the period.
- The Tigers ended the third with a monster 35 points from nine unique scorers. Nelson led the way with six points.
- The teams started off the fourth trading buckets until the Tiger defense took over. The black & gold held the Pride to 1-of-8 from the field in the final 4:00 of play and scoreless until just before the end of regulation when the opposition cashed in on a three-point play.
- Towson came out with the 41-point win, 86-45.
Inside the Numbers
- The 41-point win marks the largest margin of victory in program history against Hofstra. The previous high was 28 points in a 92-64 win on Jan. 24, 2021.
- As the 15th win of Towson's season comes on Jan. 30, the team becomes the fastest to reach the milestone in the NCAA era. The 2007-08 team had reached 15 wins on Jan. 31.
- The Tigers' 36 points in the third quarter measures up as their third highest quarter total this slate. The team scored a season-high 37 in the first quarter against Florida in the Preseason WNIT and 26 points in the third quarter against Frostburg State. Hofstra's three points in the second period marks the fewest points Towson has allowed this season.
- As the black & gold held Hofstra to just three points in the first quarter, the team has now held their opponent to less than 10 points in a quarter 10 times this campaign.
- The black & gold continue to play unselfish basketball as they registered 17 total assists on 86 points. The team has reached 12+ assists in the last six contests.
- The Tigers forced 20 turns for the sixth 20+ turnover outing of the season. The team cashed in on 25 points off turnovers.
- Towson's defense held Hofstra to 26.7 percent shooting during the game, the 10th time this season the team has held its opponent to under 35.5 percent shooting.
- The team's 58 rebounds marks their second-highest total this season as Towson secured 61 boards in the season opener against Frostburg State. As one of the top-10 rebounding teams in the country, the black & gold grabbed 58 total rebounds. The Tigers have now secured 50+ rebounds on four occasions.
- Towson scored 10 three-point field goals on Sunday afternoon, their second highest total this season. Nelson paced the squad with four from beyond the arc for her second consecutive performance.
- At least two Tigers have cracked double figures in 18 of 19 outings so far this season as four scored in double figures against the Pride. Nelson and Kubek have now scored 10+ points in 17 of 19 contests, including the last three games.
- Towson scored 32 bench points as well as 28 fast break points. Hofstra netted just six off the bench and just two in transition.
Next Game
Towson will go back on the road to see both William & Mary and Elon for the second time this season. The Tigers will travel to face the Tribe on Feb. 4 for a 7 p.m. contest and then make the trek to meet the Phoenix on Feb. 6 for a 2 p.m. showdown.
