TOWSON, Md. – After being a force in the paint in two big victories,
Charles Thompson has been selected as the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Week, announced by the league on Monday.
Thompson becomes the fourth different Tiger to be a CAA Player of the Week this season.
Jason Gibson (Dec. 13),
Cam Holden (Nov. 29) and
Nicolas Timberlake (Dec. 27) have all earned the weekly honor this season. It is Thompson's first-ever CAA weekly award.
The junior out of Fort Washington, Maryland helped Towson to a pair of victories this week to keep the Tigers in second place in the CAA. Towson won at Delaware 69-62 and vs. Drexel 66-62 this past week to stand at 16-6 overall and 7-2 in the league.
Thompson was an incredible 75% from the field in the two games, going 18-for-24 on field goals. He averaged 19 points and 10 rebounds a contest, including a career-high 23 points for a double-double (11 rebounds) in the comeback win over Drexel.
Thompson and Tigers hit the road for the next two games, beginning with a game at Hofstra on Thursday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m.
