Towson Women’s Swimming & Diving Leads After Day Two of Thomas Murphy Invite; Men’s Squad in Second

TOWSON, Md. – Following day two of the Thomas Murphy Invitational, the Towson University women's swimming and diving is leading with 1061.5 points. 

The men's program finished the day with 912 points, good for second place through day two. 

Standings: 

  • Towson Women: 1061.5 points 

  • Loyola Women: 1049.5 points 

  • Johns Hopkins Women: 791 points 

  

  • Loyola Men: 1073 points 

  • Towson Men: 912 points 

  • Johns Hopkins Men: 774 points 

How it happened: 

On the Women's Side:

  • The Tigers once again started the day off quickly, with two 400 medley relay teams finishing in the top three. Ally Frame, Tiffany Matulis, Hailey Ritter and Katie Nunez finished first with a time of 3:43.52. Janine Murphy, Shay Walker, Samantha Casolo and Victoria Dichak finished third (3:51.33). 

  • Towson swept the top five spots in the 100 fly final. Ava Enriquez (55.08), Maddie Mince (55.74) and Samantha Casolo (55.94) rounded out the top three. Hailey Ritter (56.45) and Laura Gaffney (57.01) finished fourth and fifth, respectively. 

  • Maddie Frick (4:26.18) and Britney Denny (4:31.91) took second and third in the 400 IM. 

  • In the 100 breast, Nunez placed first with a time of 1:03.90. Walker (1:04.97) and Tink Thompkins were not far behind in third and fifth. 

  • Frame (54.81, 1st), Murphy (56.85, 2nd), and Dichak (58.31, fifth) took three of the top five spots in the 100 back for the Tigers. 

  • Towson took the top five spots in the 1-meter dive. Shannon Parrau (254.25), Ashley Sinicropi (219.30), Abby O'Leary (203.85), Sara Parksvold (200.63) and Hayley Beutel (200.40) rounded out the top five. 

  • Ritter, Mince, Murphy and Enriquez finished less than two-tenths of a second off the pool record in the 200 free relay at 1:34.23. 

  • Parrau took the top spot in the 3-meter dive with 252.60. Beutel (2nd), O'Leary (3rd) and Sinicropi (4th) followed behind her.

The Thomas Murphy Invitational will conclude tomorrow (Oct. 30) with 10 a.m. preliminary swims and final heats starting at 6 p.m.
