TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University women's swimming and diving team came from behind on the final day of the Patriot Invitational to take first place with 893 points. Florida Atlantic, with 874 points, and George Mason, with 829.50 points, were close behind. Richmond (505), American (379), Marist (158.50) and UNCW (92) rounded out the leaderboard after the final day.
The men's squad finished in second place with 991.50 points after Saturday. Florida Atlantic came in first with 1,128 points. George Mason (710.50), Marist (360), American (332) and UNCW (90) trailed the Tigers.

How it happened:
On the women's side

Bridget Thomas started the meet hot for the Tigers with a first-place finish in the 1650 free, clocking in at 16:50.17. Brooke Haag tagged in sixth at 17:34.33.

In the 200 back, Ally Frame placed fourth with a time of 1:58.83. Maddie Frick finished seventh at 2:01.81.

Katie Nunez timed in at 50.68 in the 100 free, taking first overall in the event. Ava Enriquez finished third at 51.28.

Tiffany Matulis took third in 200 breast with a time of 2:19.01. Holly Greenleaf (2:21.64) and Britney Denny (2:22.33) placed sixth and seventh, respectively.

Hailey Ritter (4th, 2:03.60), Laura Gaffney (6th, 2:04.84), Maddie Mince (7th, 2:05.69) and Samantha Casolo (8th, 2:06.19) placed in the A final of the 200 fly.

The 400 free relay team of Enriquez, Mince, Ritter and Nunez placed 3rd overall with a time of 3:25.59.
On the Men's side

Ryan Bookstein's time of 15:56.39 in the 1650 free was good for fifth place. Dean Blakely finished eighth at 16:14.04.

Reed Sells placed sixth at 1:49.77 in the 200 back. Ian Hewett, Patrick Flint, Evan Bota and Brendan Farrar also scored in the event for the Tigers.

Brian Benzing won the 100 free with a time of 44.04. Michael Fazio finished second at 44.52.

The Tigers had four finishers in the A Final of the 200 breast, Noah Diacumakos (4th, 2:01.95), Tanner Fatta (6th, 2:04.89), Julian Maycock (7th, 2:06.16) and Ryan Bookstein (8th, 2:06.24).

Carson Bauer (4th, 1:53.06), Ian Lee (6th,1:53.38), Aiden Rooney (7th, 1:53.92) and Sells (8th, 1:54.55) placed in the A final of the 200 fly.

David Walton, Fazio, Diacumakos and Benzing finished second in the 400 free relay with a time of 2:58.16.
"Both teams had a great meet this weekend. We've really set ourselves up to have great rest of the year and we're looking forward to it. I'm incredibly proud of this group thus far and I'm excited to see what we can do in the second half," Coach Bruno said.
Next Time Out:
Qualifying competitors, Brian Benzing and Michael Fazio, will head to Greensboro, N.C. for the 2022 U.S. Open from November 30 to December 3. This is the first qualifying opportunity for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games.
The next team meet for the men is January 7 against Navy in Annapolis. For the women, the next meet is Senior Day on January 21 versus Drexel.
