TOWSON, Md. – Three Towson University women's soccer players earned United Soccer Coaches All-East Region honors; the association announced this week. Nia Christopher, Riley Melendez, and Jasmine Hamid earned the honors after their strong seasons in 2022.

Christopher was named All-East Region Second Team after leading the Tigers and the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) in both goals (13) and points (20) during the season. The junior currently has 27 career goals and is just three off the program record of 30 set by Emily Banes from 2008-13. Christopher was named All-CAA First Team and CAA All-Tournament Team after leading the Tigers to a semifinal appearance for the first time in program history. This is the second All-Region honor for Christopher who was named All-East Region Third Team in 2021.

Both Melendez and Hamid earned a spot on the All-East Region Third Team. Melendez had a breakout campaign, earning CAA Goalkeeper of the Year after posting a league-best 0.56 goals against average, .847 save percentage and 0.55 shutouts per game with 11 shutouts.

Hamid had a strong 2022 scoring six goals with six assists for 18 points, finishing third on the team in goals and points and second in assists.

Towson had three players earn all-region honors, the most of any other CAA program. Both Monmouth and Northeastern had two honorees, with Drexel and Hofstra each earning one. Previously, Towson had just three total honorees in program history with Christopher (Third Team, 2021), Melissa Gomes (Third Team, 2010), and Emily Banes (Second Team, 2013) earning the award.
