Big Fourth Quarter Pushes Women's Basketball Over Howard 68-58 
 
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Towson University women's basketball team was victorious against the Howard Bison 68-58 on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers (5-4) pulled away in the fourth quarter holding the Bison (3-6) to nine points.
 
Quinzia Fulmore and Skye Williams led Towson with 14 points each, Fulmore added nine rebounds. India Johnston had 13 points making three triples for the second time this season.
 
Key Stats vs Howard: 
  • Towson controlled the glass grabbing 43 rebounds, including a season-high 21 offensive rebounds. 
  • Kylie Kornegay-Lucas flirted with another triple-double having 11 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and four steals. 
  • The Tigers had their third game with double-digit steals racking up ten. 
  • Towson finished with a season-high 21-second chance points. 
 
How It Happened vs Howard: 
  • Howard opened the game with a three on its first possession, but Towson quickly gained a 7-5 lead on a Skye Williams three-pointer. 
  • The Bison regained a one-point advantage after a couple of buckets, but Williams hit another three to take an 11-9 lead. 
  • Howard scored four three throws to take back the lead, but India Johnston's triple gave the Tigers a slight edge. 
  • Towson extended the advantage with a Kylie Kornegay-Lucas jumper, but Howard regained the lead after a layup with fifteen seconds left, snapping its five-minute field goal drought. 
  • Johnston gave the Tigers an 18-17 edge heading into the second quarter after scoring a layup with five seconds remaining. 
  • Johnston started the second quarter on fire, hitting back-to-back threes to give Towson a 24-17 advantage. 
  • The Tigers got a nine-point lead after a layup by Ryann Evans, but Howard responded with an 11-2 run to tie the score at 28. 
  • Towson took a 30-28 lead into the locker room after Williams scored her tenth point of the game. 
  • The third quarter started with both teams trading baskets and were tied at 35. 
  • The Tigers got a four-point edge after consecutive baskets by Kornegay-Lucas and Anissa Rivera
  • The Bison tied the score at 41 behind a 6-2 run midway through the third quarter. 
  • The teams traded buckets until the end of the third quarter, with Kornegay-Lucas hitting a three-pointer with 18 seconds left to be tied at 49 heading into the fourth. 
  • Fulmore opened the fourth with three consecutive baskets to give Towson the lead. 
  • Towson stretched its advantage to four, but the Bison cut the lead in half with five minutes remaining. 
  • Alexia Nelson hit a three on the right wing to spark a 9-0 run to take control of the game. 
  • The Tigers closed out the game and won 68-58 to improve to 5-4 on the season. 
 
Inside the Numbers vs Howard: 
  • Five Tigers registered a steal to have 30 points off turnovers. 
  • The Tigers scored 16 bench points while holding the Bison to six. 
  • Kylie Kornegay-Lucas extended her streak of scoring double-figures to nine games. 
  • Four Tigers finished with double figures for the third time this season.
