TOWSON, Md. – Four Tigers were honored in the 2022 Phil Steele All-Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) selections, led by D'Ago Hunter being the Special Teams Player of the Year.
 
Hunter earned Phil Steele First Team recognition honors at kick returner and punt returner plus was Second Team at all-purpose.  Three other Tigers were selected to the Second Team: Jesus Gibbs at defensive line, Robert Javier at defensive back and Riley Williams at punter.
 
Hunter was the league leader in punt yards per return at 16.3 and kick yards per return at 24.6 (minimum 10 kickoff returns), totaling 1,207 all-purpose yards on the year including 639 kickoff return yards, 195 punt return yards, 262 rushing yards and 111 receiving yards.  Hunter also had three special teams touchdowns, including two on kickoffs.
 
Gibbs was Towson's leader in sacks with five and tackles for loss with eight, adding 44 tackles and seven quarterback hurries.  He had eight games with at least four tackles, leading all Towson defensive linemen in total tackles.
 
Javier finished tied for first in the CAA with 12 pass break-ups and second with 14 total passes defended, having a pair of pick sixes against Delaware and Hampton.  Javier totaled 167 yards on his two interception returns for touchdowns.
 
Williams, in his first year with Towson, earned 44.7 yards per punt for fourth in FCS, having 16 punts of over 50 yards and 13 punts placed inside the 20-yard line.  He also notched a pair of 60-yard punts against Delaware and Elon.
