Don Metil was named ECAC Division I Women's Volleyball Coach of the Year and middle blocker
Lydia Wiers earned All-ECAC First Team honors.
Coach Metil earned ECAC Division I Women's Volleyball Coach of the Year honors for the second time at Towson. Metil led the Tigers to a 29-2 overall record, finishing 15-1 in the CAA and winning the CAA regular season title for the third straight season. After sweeping Delaware in the CAA Championship, Metil clinched the team's fourth consecutive NCAA berth. He surpassed Cathy Cain for the most wins all-time in Towson volleyball history after the Tigers defeated No. 7 Pittsburgh in the Panther Challenge. Coach Metil coached the Tigers to the best-ever start in Towson history and the longest winning streak in program history, winning the first 18 matches. He boasts a 221-76 record at Towson.
Lydia Wiers earned All-ECAC honors for the first time in her four-year career. Wiers was named to the All-CAA First Team this season, leading one of the top defenses in the country. The senior from Willard, Ohio, led the CAA and ranks 32nd in the country in blocks per set, averaging 1.31, a career-best. Wiers ranks fifth all-time in career total blocks at Towson with 426. She amassed a career-high 143 blocks, which ranks 31st in the NCAA and led the CAA. Wiers finished third on the team in hit percentage with a .349 percentage on 318 total attempts. Wiers won CAA Defensive Player of the Week award three times during the season, which included an eight-kill and nine-block performance in a four-set victory against William & Mary.
