How It Happened:
- Towson struck immediately in the top of the first. Following a one-out single, Danny Becerra doubled down the left field line to bring in a run. A fly out and reach on error later, the latter much bringing in a run, Elijah Dickerson belted the ball to center for a two-run triple to make it 4-0 Towson.
- Doug Marose dominated on the mound, pitching a shutout through the fifth inning. In the top of the sixth, Towson added to its lead. With second and third, one out, Dickerson blasted a ball over the left field fence for a three-run home run, send the score to 7-0.
- Southern got a run in the sixth off a fielding error. Towson got the run back off a Becerra RBI single to score James Moses as the Tigers led 8-1.
- Towson was not done: in the top of the eighth, Max Samson reached on a single, taking two bases on passed balls. Dickerson hit another home run, this one to right field, for his second of the day. The Tigers proceeded to load the bases with two out. Jake Lysaght drew a walk to push Casey Bishop across and give Towson the 11-1 advantage. Cam Clark finished out the game to send Towson to the 11-1 victory.
Inside the Numbers:
- Elijah Dickerson earned the first 7+ RBI game for Towson since 2015. Chris Henze finished with nine RBI against Hofstra on April 12, 2015. Dickerson also had the first two home run game for a Tiger since Richard Miller hit two vs. Coppin State on April 11, 2018.
