WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Towson women's basketball team earned its second win of the season against Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) foe William & Mary, 76-60, on Friday night in Kaplan Arena.
Rayne Tucker went off to score a season-high 20 points. She also added six rebounds and two blocks. Aleah Nelson followed with 15 points, including three from deep. Tarriyonna Gary secured her ninth double digit scoring performance with 11 points in addition to two steals.

How it Happened
- William & Mary got on the board first, but Rayne Tucker quickly followed with a three-point play to give Towson the early 3-2 edge. Nelson piled it on with a pair of buckets from beyond the arc to add to the lead, 9-4.
- The Tribe tied things up at the 3:50 mark, 13-13. The Tigers only allowed four more points from the opposition to end the first as the team emerged with the 22-17 advantage.
- The two teams traded possessions to start the second but just before the halfway point, Towson went on a 6-0 run to force a W&M timeout. Tucker scored four points in the stretch, getting her to a quick 13 points.
- Out of the timeout, William & Mary rallied to hit 4-of-5 from the field and cut its deficit, 35-26.
- The Tribe continued, adding four points in the final 1:20 of the first half to end the half down nine points, 41-32.
- Tucker kept the momentum going into the second half, hitting another three-point play in the opening seconds of action.
- The Tigers drew four fouls in the first 3:00 of play to add four points from the charity stripe early. The team simultaneously held William & Mary scoreless until the 6:48 mark.
- Nelson hit a three-pointer and Tucker followed with a layup to force another W&M timeout at 4:31 in the third with the score, 56-38. The field goal gave Tucker her new best at Towson, 20 points. Nelson led the Tigers in the third with nine points as the team extended its 68-44 lead.
- The Tribe came out in the final quarter looking for the rim, scoring six points early. Through the middle of the period though, both teams fell off, hitting no field goals. W&M ended the streak with a three-pointer at the 4:50 mark to spark a 10-0 run.
- Towson forced three turnovers in final 2:47 while also holding W&M scoreless to secure the 76-60 win.
Inside the Numbers
- This is the Tigers' first 16-win season since 2018-19 (20-13) and marks just the second since 2011-12 (16-14).
- With the victory, the black & gold completed their first CAA sweep over of the season, as they defeated the Tribe on Jan. 9, 91-55.
- The Tigers forced 19 turnovers for their fifth consecutive 10+ turnover performance. The team also cashed in on 24 points off turns.
- Towson out-rebounded William & Mary 46-35. The Tigers have now secured +40 boards in 18 contests this season.
- At least two Tigers have cracked double figures in 19 of 20 outings so far this season as three hit double figures against the Tribe. Nelson has now scored 10+ points in 18 of 20 contests, including the last six games.
- Tucker set a new season-high of 20 points, but six points shy of her career-best. Her previous season best of 15 was set against the Tribe earlier in the year (1/9).
- Towson scored 21 bench points and 19 fast break points as well as a monster 46 points in the paint.

Towson will continue its road trip as it travels onto Elon, Feb. 6 for a 2 p.m. showdown. The Phoenix will celebrate their Play4Kay game against the Tigers.
