WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Towson University women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 to UNCW to start off Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play.
"We fought really hard in this match but there was a bit too much adversity for us to overcome," head coach Jamie Peterson said. "We were a bit overwhelmed in the doubles and many of our first sets due to extremely windy conditions in our first dual match outside. I think some of the adjustments we made in the second set can give us confidence going into tomorrow. Nonetheless, we look forward to getting back at it tomorrow."
UNCW swept all three doubles matches to win the first point of the day. The Seahawks followed up with five singles wins to secure the 6-1 victory. Jessica Assenmacher was the lone Tiger to get a singles win, defeating Binley Bell on court No. 3, 7-5, 6-1.
