PIKESVILLE, Md. — The Towson University tennis team fell to Navy on Saturday night, 5-2, at the Coppermine Racquet and Fitness Club.
Despite the outcome, the Tigers are only the second team to earn more than one point against the Midshipmen so far this season. In all 12 of the Mids' victories this spring, they have either won 7-0 or 6-1.
"I was really pleased at most of our performances and the teams' invested energy in the match," said head coach Jamie Peterson. "It gave us an opportunity to win the match late even after having played doubles."
Doubles
The Tigers dropped once again dropped the doubles point to start off the match. Antonia Lawson and Jessica Assenmacher put up a good fight on the final court, 7-5, but Navy still came out with the point.
Singles
Sarah Pospischill (No. 4) and Elessa Jacobs (No. 6) came out with wins to give the Black & Gold their two points. Both battled through tiebreaks to come out with straight set wins.
It wasn't enough though as the Mids powered through to win matches on courts No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5 to secure the victory.
