BALTIMORE, Md. – The Towson outdoor track and field team completed action at both the Virginia Challenge and Hopkins/Loyola Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Highlighting the day, Crystal Johnson broke the outdoor 200 meter record at the Virginia Classic with a time of 23.75.
The Tigers also did very well at the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational, securing 13 top 10 finishes.
How it Happened: Virginia Classic
- Crystal Johnson set the new outdoor 200 meter record with a time of 23.75. The previous program best of 23.90 had been set by Liz Reid in 2019. Johnson took third in the race. She noow owns the program records in the indoor and outdoor 200 in addition to the indoor 100 meters.
- Cristal Cuervo also took 15th (24.48) in the 200 meters.
- Kayla Thorpe placed 26th in the shot put with a mark of 13.45 meters.
How it Happened: Hopkins/Loyola Invitational
- Towson placed three Tigers in the top 10 of the 100 meter hurdles as Amanda Tony (15.16) took third, Deborah Gnoumou (15.19) placed fifth and Christina Marion (15.64) ended in ninth.
- Rachel Thomas led the way in the 800 meters with a final time of 2:20.87 to place eighth. Lexi Mogensen followed in 10th place (2:21.83).
- With a time of 4:51.89, Alison Betler finished the 1500 meters in 15th place.
- Nicole Bezborodko clocked 18:21.73 to take seventh place in the 5000 meters.
- In the high jump, Aliyah Anderson continued her hot streak, placing fourth with a leap of 1.50 meters.
- Kira Parsons won the javelin throw with a mark of 36.70 meters, her best finish of the season.
- The Tigers were also represented well in the long jump as Christina Marion took sixth (5.61 meters), Skylar Holmes finished in ninth (5.31 meters) and Anderson ended in 13th (5.12 meters).
- Millie Klefsaas secured her best finish of the spring, placing second in the pole vault with a height of 3.61 meters.
- The Black & Gold also did well in the triple jump. Anderson led the pack with a mark of 11.42 meters to place fifth while Marion followed in eighth (11.08 meters), Tony in 10th (10.80 meters) and Holmes in 11th (10.66 meters).
