WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- The Towson University track and field team ended the first day of the ECAC Outdoor Championships in 12th place. The team ended with 15 total points. Delaware currently leads the field with 35 points.
Kayla Thorpe led the Tigers with a first place finish in the javelin and a new program record.
How it Happened
- Crystal Johnson placed fourth in the 100m preliminaries with a time of 11.74.
- Georgia Coleman also took fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 55.33m.
- Thorpe had a great day, placing first in the javelin with a throw of 49.77 meters. The mark broke the program record which was set in 2008 by Kelly Robinson (48.58 meters). She also placed just outside of the top-10 in the shot put with a throw of 13.21 meters to end in 12th.
- Denee Hibbert placed 10th in long jump with a mark of 5.36 meters.
