TOWSON, Md. – Towson University pitcher
Brett Seils has been selected as the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie of the Week for his strong performance in the final weekend of the season.
Seils earns Towson's first CAA Rookie of the Week honor this season. He is the first Towson player to be CAA Rookie of the Week since
Danny Becerra picked up the honor on March 9, 2021. Towson has received two conference weekly awards this year, including
Elijah Dickerson being CAA Player of the Week on April 26.
The freshman from Brookeville, Maryland was Towson's Friday starting pitcher, no-hitting CAA regular season champion Charleston through five innings. He finished his outing with five-and-a-third innings thrown, allowing one hit and striking out five for the victory. It was his longest outing of the season, leading Towson to the 8-3 victory over the Cougars.
In his last four games pitched, Seils was scoreless in a combined 14-and-a-third innings, going 2-0 with a save and 13 strikeouts.
Towson finished the season with a series victory over Charleston this past weekend as the Tigers walked off with a 3-2 win on Saturday.
