TOWSON, Md. – The 2022 Battle for Greater Baltimore football game between Towson University and Morgan State University on September 10 at Johnny Unitas® Stadium will be televised on Maryland Public Television (MPT). Kickoff has been moved from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. to accommodate the broadcast.
MPT is a public television network that comprises six stations that broadcast throughout Maryland as well the District of Columbia and portions of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia. MPT is the only statewide broadcaster in Maryland.
"I want to thank MPT for making this happen," Towson Director of Athletics
Steve Eigenbrot said. "We are exactly 50 days away from kicking off the home season and are excited to have an opportunity to showcase the Battle for Greater Baltimore for fans from Western Maryland to the Eastern Shore. It is a terrific opportunity for our student-athletes and the program to gain exposure."
MPT will be using the Towson Sports Network feed for the broadcast with Spiro Morekas (play-by-play) and Gordy Combs (analyst) calling the action. The game will also be streamed on FloSports.com, the exclusive broadcast home of Colonial Athletic Association athletics, and on the MPT livestream at

"We jumped at the opportunity to bring a college football game between two outstanding Maryland universities to our statewide audience," said Travis Mitchell, MPT's senior vice president and chief content officer. "Viewers tell us that they enjoy watching Maryland teams and sporting events on our network. With this game and our broadcast of the Maryland 5 Star in October, we're offering sports content that fits in well with our mission to enrich the lives of Marylanders."
The two schools, separated by 4.4 miles, have met on the football field 26 times since 1979 with Towson holding a 20-6 advantage. The Tigers have won four straight in the series, including a 31-0 road victory in 2021. This year's contest begins a new six-year contract through 2027.
"This is another one of those great ideas that should be the norm and tradition already," said Towson football coach
Rob Ambrose. "Anytime our Division I football teams are playing each other, our programs should be promoted and celebrated on television. I am grateful for MPT for using its platform to publicize these two great universities and their football programs."
September 10 is the first of five regular season home games this year for the Tigers. Season tickets are on sale. For more information, interested parties may contact the Towson Athletics ticket office by visiting
