Former Men’s Lacrosse Standouts Wrap Week Five in Minnesota

EAGAN, Minn. – Wrapping up week five of the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) schedule, several former Towson University men's lacrosse players made the trip to the northern climes of the Midwest over the weekend.

The fifth week of the PLL season was held at TCO Stadium, headquarters for the Minnesota Vikings. All four former Tigers suited up for their respective teams.

Rookie Koby Smith '22 and his Atlas LC squad picked up a narrow 14-13 win over Chrome LC Friday night under the lights. Three Tigers playing for Cannons LC, Ryan Drenner, '17, Zach Goodrich '19, and Alex Woodall '19, fell by a 13-11 count against reigning champion Chaos LC.

The pros are idle this weekend before heading to Gillette Stadium for the 2022 PLL All-Star Weekend. Both the All-Star Game and the All-Star Skills competition are set for July 16 on ESPN and ESPN+, respectively.

Below is a capsule of each players' weekend in the North Star State.

Ryan Drenner '17 (Cannons LC)
Ryan Drenner was the leading point getter for Cannons LC on Saturday, hitting for four goals in the one-goal set back. Coming out of the box as a midfielder, Drenner capitalized on 44 percent of his shots. He added four ground balls and one caused turnover to his line. The former Towson captain scored twice in each half, including a strike with 11:04 to play in the fourth quarter, tying the game at 11-11. 

Zach Goodrich '19 (Cannons LC)
Zach Goodrich posted a caused turnover while helping to limit the Chaos offense to just five goals in the second half.

Koby Smith '22 (Atlas LC)
Koby Smith played in the Atlas' 14-13 win over Chrome LC on Friday. He did not register a stat in the game, per PremierLacrosseLeague.com.

Alex Woodall '19 (Cannons LC)
Back in the lineup for a second straight weekend, Alex Woodall had a solid showing at the faceoff X as a reserve specialist. Woodall won seven of his eight chances (88.0%) while snagging four ground balls.
