NEWARK, Del. – The Towson University women's basketball team won its fourth consecutive game of the season, defeating Delaware 69-66 in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Friday night at the Bob Carpenter Center.
Skye Williams scored a game-high 16 points, while
Kylie Kornegay-Lucas added 14 points and a career-best six steals.
Patricia Anumgba had a career-best 13 points with four steals.
The Tigers trailed by as many as 10 points in the first half, but outscored Delaware 23-10 in the third quarter to take a 52-47 advantage after three quarters. The Tigers shot 53.3 percent (8-for-15) from the field in the quarter and held the Blue Hens to 25 percent (3-of-12) from the floor
The fourth quarter featured three ties and four lead changes. Down 61-60, Kornegay-Lucas hit two free throws with 5:02 remaining to give the Tigers the lead for good then scored on a layup with 4:10 to play to give Towson a three-point cushion.

Laura Harper said. "When you start winning games, you find a way to be tough. We had different people step up. Our strength is our depth and we showed that tonight."
The victory broke a five-game losing streak versus Delaware. It was the first road win in the series for Towson since knocking off the Blue Hens in the CAA tournament quarterfinals in March 2019.
"Towson-Delaware is a rivalry. It means something to our players," added Harper. "We are going to celebrate this and enjoy what this does for our confidence."
After beginning conference play with two losses, Harper's team has reeled off victories over Hampton, William & Mary, Monmouth and Delaware.

How it Happened:
- Towson jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the opening 2:30 on buckets by Kornegay-Lucas, Fulmore and Anumgba forcing a Delaware timeout.
- Williams hit three-of-five shots from the field in the opening 10 minutes of play, but the Tigers trailed 21-12.
- Trailing 24-14, Towson used its defense to narrow the gap to 24-21 with 5:30 remaining in the opening half. Anumgba started the 7-0 run with a steal and layup then Rivera scored five quick points with a three-point field goal and a steal and layup.
- After the Blue Hens extended the lead back to seven at 28-21 with 4:40 to play in the second quarter, the Tigers went on a 5-0 run to reduce the deficit to 28-26. Anumgba keyed the run with her third steal and layup of the opening half.
- Gabby Scott provided a spark off the bench in the opening half with two points and four boards.
- Towson trailed 37-29 at the break with Kornegay-Lucas reduced to five minutes because of foul trouble.
- Towson scored 13 of the first 17 points of the second half in the first three and half minutes and took a 42-41 lead when Williams found Quinzia Fulmore in the lane. During the run, Towson got buckets from Alexia Nelson, Kornegay-Lucas, Anumgba, Williams and Fulmore.
- The Tigers extended the lead to 50-44 with an 8-3 run led by Kornegay-Lucas, who scored two buckets and had a steal and an assist.
- Towson built a 52-44 advantage with 58 seconds remaining in the quarter and led by five heading into the final frame.
- Delaware opened the fourth quarter on an 11-5 run and took a 58-57 lead with six minutes remaining.
- Williams scored on a traditional three-point play to give the Tigers a 60-58 lead with 5:28 on the clock.
- Delaware regained the lead at 61-60 with three free throws at the 5:15 mark.
- On the next possession, Kornegay-Lucas stole the ball and was fouled going to the rim. She hit two free throws to give the Tigers the lead for good, 62-61, with 5:02 to play. Less than a minute later, she scored on a layup.
- Williams scored the next four points for the visitors, hitting a jumper after another Kornegay-Lucas steal and two three throws to give Towson a 68-63 advantage with 35.9 seconds left.
- It was 69-66 with 6.2 seconds remaining. Delaware had a chance to tie but missed a three-point attempt at the buzzer.
Key Stats:
- Kornegay-Lucas leads Towson in points (15.6), assists (4.1), steals (2.6), blocks (1.2) and free throw percentage (.873). She is second in rebounds, trailing only Fulmore (113-111).
- Towson had a season-best 17 steals and forced 26 turnovers.
Inside the Numbers:
- Anumgba's previous career-high was 10 points versus Princeton (Dec. 5) and UMass-Lowell (Dec. 23).
- Williams is now 13 points shy of 500 in a Towson uniform.
- Scott led the Tigers in rebounds with five and has 11 in the last two games.

Towson will host Drexel in conference play on Sunday, Jan. 22 at 2 p.m. inside SECU Arena. The Dragons (13-4, 5-1 CAA) downed the Tigers 75-67 in Philadelphia on Jan. 1.
