TOWSON, Md. – Towson University linebacker
Ryan Kearney has earned a spot on the 2022 FCS Athletic Directors Association (ADA) Academic All-Star Team.
Kearney is one of 53 members across FCS, and seven from the Colonial Athletic Association, to earn a place on the All-Star Team. He is the first Towson honoree on the FCS ADA Academic All-Star Team since
Tom Flacco was selected in 2019. In total, five Tigers have been recognized as FDA Academic All-Stars since 2016.
Nominees had to have at least a 3.2 GPA in their second year of athletic and academic standing plus be a starter or key player, playing in at least 50% of games. Schools can nominate up to two student-athletes, then the team is selected by a review committee.
In the classroom, Kearney just finished his first semester of graduate school after graduating with a 3.81 grade point average in environmental science. On the field, he started all 11 games at linebacker, finishing second on the team in total tackles with 72, adding four pass breakups and an interception.
The Ellicott City, Maryland native also was a member of the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Team in November.
