TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University women's basketball team was voted to finish in first place after receiving nine first-place votes in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Preseason Poll.
 
Redshirt senior guard Kylie Kornegay-Lucas was named as the CAA Preseason of the Year and earned All-CAA First Team honors. Kornegay-Lucas was the 2022-23 CAA Defensive Player of the Year after leading the conference in steals (79) and ranking 26th in the nation.
 
Towson is coming off a 21-12 season and a 13-5 mark in the CAA. The Tigers earned a share of the CAA regular season crown and a WNIT appearance.
 
The Tigers were picked to finish in first place and received 163 points with nine first-place votes.
 
Kornegay-Lucas averaged a team-high 14.1 points on 39.7% shooting and 32.9% 3pt shooting, while averaging 7.3 rebounds. The Camden, Del. native led the Tigers in assists and blocks with 132 assists and 27 blocks. She finished with the second highest free throw percentage in program history at 84.2%.
 
Junior forward Quinzia Fulmore was named All-CAA Honorable Mention. The Dudley, North Carolina native averaged 10.1 points on 52.7% shooting, both career-highs. Fulmore led the Tigers in rebounds with 242 and averaged 7.3 per game.
 
She grabbed double-digit rebounds in nine games to rank second in the CAA and totaled eight double-doubles to finish second in the conference. Fulmore totaled 15 points and 11 rebounds on 53.8% from the field against Elon to help Towson clinch a share of the CAA regular season title.
 
Towson will open its season at TU Arena on Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. against UMBC.
