NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Towson University women's basketball team traveled up to the Big Apple to take on WNIT finalist Columbia on Thursday night as the Tigers (1-1) fell 80-57 to the Lions (2-2).
Kylie Kornegay-Lucas led the Tigers with 15 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Key Stats vs Columbia:
- Columbia finished with 42 points in the paint compared to 26 for the Tigers.
- Patricia Anumgba had 14 points on 4-of-6 (66.7%) shooting with four assists and three steals.
- Kitty Henderson led the Lions with 23 points and eight assists on 10-of-12 (83.3%) shooting. Abbey Hsu added 16 points and eight rebounds.
How It Happened vs Columbia:
- The Lions started off by going on a 10-2 run, then Towson went on a 5-0 run led by an Alina Sendar three-pointer and a Kylie Kornegay-Lucas layup to trail by three.
- Towson held Columbia scoreless for over three minutes as the Tigers went on a 6-0 run to take a 13-10 advantage.
- The Lions finished the first quarter on a 7-0 run to lead 17-13.
- The second quarter started with both teams trading baskets, then Columbia went on an 8-0 run to have a 28-18 lead.
