TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University men's swimming & diving team stands in second place after day one of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championship in Hampton, Virginia with 101 total points. UNCW leads the pack with 124 points while Delaware rounds out the top three with 98 points. Drexel (94), William & Mary (56) and Monmouth (52) stand fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
The women's team is currently in fifth place following day one's results. William & Mary (72) is in first place while Delaware (68) and UNCW (68) are tied for second. Northeastern is in fourth with 60 points while Drexel is behind Towson with 54 points. Monmouth and Stony Brook are tied for seventh with 46 points each.
How it Happened:
- The women's 200 medley relay team of Ally Frame, Tiffany Matulis, Hailey Ritter and Maddie Mince got on the podium with a third-place finish, clocking in at 1:39.74. That time marks a new school record for the Tigers, beating the previous mark of 1:40.53.
- The men's relay team of Evan Bota, Brian Benzing, Noah Diacumakos and Michael Fazio followed that with a second-place finish in the event with a time of 1:25.17. Benzing's 22.54 (SCY) 50 breaststroke split in the relay is the second-fastest split all-time at any level – NCAA, high school or club. That time also marks a new school record in the 200 medley relay.
- The men's 1m diving final was next, with freshman Aidan Clark finishing in third place for the Tigers with a score of 301.45. His 302.55 in preliminaries this afternoon qualified for NCAA Zones and marks the third-highest Towson score of all-time. Ajani Dorner placed seventh in the A final with 251.45 points.
- The women's 800 freestyle relay was next. Ava Enriquez, Bridget Thomas, Victoria Dichak and Katie Nunez took sixth place with a time of 7:23.72 in the race.
- The night's last event was the men's 800 freestyle relay. The relay team of Benzing, Fazio, Diacumakos and Luke Schwar placed second in the event with a time of 6:27.66. That was the Tigers third school record-setting relay of the night, clearing the previous mark by six seconds. Benzing's 1:35.08 split in the relay also set a Towson record in the 200 free.

Day two of the CAA Championship continues tomorrow with preliminary swims starting at 10 a.m. Diving preliminaries will start at 12:30 and the day's finals session will begin at 6 p.m.
