TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University men's swimming & diving team stands in second place after day two of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championship in Hampton, Virginia with 233 total points. UNCW leads the pack with 291 points while Delaware rounds out the top three with 223 points. Drexel (205), William & Mary (132.5) and Monmouth (95.5) stand fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
The women's team is currently in fifth place with 147 points following day two's results. UNCW (282.5) stands in first place, Northeastern (214) in second and Delaware (201) third. William & Mary's 198.5 points are good for fourth place. Drexel (133), Monmouth (77) and Stony Brook (75) round out the leaderboard.
Brian Benzing recorded his third NCAA B cut of the season in the 200 IM and set new Towson and CAA records.
How it Happened

- On the men's side, Ryan Bookstein won the B final in the 500 with a 4:30.18. Blakely Dean finished fifth in the heat (4:33.26).
- Brian Benzing took gold in the 200 IM with a CAA record-setting 1:44.41 in the event. That time marks an NCAA B cut and is a Towson school record. Patrick Flint (1:48.01) and Noah Diacumakos (1:48.14) finished sixth and seventh respectively. Kirill Pankov's 1:49.04 was good for fifth in the B final.
- Michael Fazio, defending champion in the 50 free, won the event for the second consecutive year with a 19.91. Luke Schwar finished fifth (20.13). Daniel McLaughlin's 20.62 took fifth in the B final.
- Evan Bota, Benzing, Diacumakos and Schwar took bronze in the 400 medley relay with a 3:10.78.

Day three of the CAA Championship continues tomorrow with preliminary swims starting at 10 a.m. Diving preliminaries will start at 12:30 and the day's finals session will begin at 6 p.m.
