TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University men's swimming & diving team finished in third place after the conclusion of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championships in Hampton, Virginia with 577.5 total points. UNCW won with 890 points while Delaware finished second with 606 points. Drexel (507.5), William & Mary (424.5) and Monmouth (241.5) finished fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
The women's team finished in fifth place with 460 points following day four's results. UNCW (803) finished in first place, William & Mary (534.5) in second and Northeastern (527.5) third. Delaware (520) finished in fourth place while Drexel (335), Monmouth (177) and Stony Brook (148) round out the leaderboard.
Brian Benzing broke his own CAA record in the 100 breast with a 51.25 and won the 100 fly with a 46.25, bringing his total individual medal count to three. Freshman
Ally Frame won the 100 back with a 53.19 in the race.
How it Happened
For the Women:
- Bridget Thomas started the night with a sixth-place finish in the 1650, clocking in at 17:00.51. Victoria Dichak finished eighth with a time of 17:14.03. Lizzy Jones scored with a 17:24.79.
- Ally Frame took the bronze medal in the 200 back with a 1:57.62. Janine Murphy took third in the B final (2:01.80)
- Katie Nunez just missed the podium in the 100 free, finishing in fourth place at 49.73. ava Enriquez (50.99) and Parker Schulz (51.34) finished fourth and sixth respectively in the B final.
- Tiffany Matulis (2:18.68) and Britney Denny (2:20.42) scored for the Tigers in the 200 breast.
- Samantha Casolo (2:02.49), Maddie Mince (2:02.64) and Hailey Ritter (2:03.44) placed fifth, sixth and seventh respectively in the 200 fly. Denny took fourth in the B final (2:04.53).
- Freshman Shannon Parrau just missed the podium in the 1m dive, finishing fourth with 266.45. Ashley Sinicropi (231.70) and Abby O'Leary (211.80) scored in the B final.
- Nunez, Mince, Schulz and Enriquez took sixth place in the 400 free relay with a 3:22.80.
For the Men:
- Ryan Bookstein placed sixth place in the 1650 with a 15:46.25. Blakely Dean finished ninth (15:50.97).
- Patrick Flint placed third in the B heat of the 200 back, clocking in at 1:47.15. Reed Sells finished fifth in the heat at 1:49.55.
- Michael Fazio got on the podium in the 100 free with a bronze finish (43.81). Luke Schwar was right behind in fourth (44.51). Daniel McLaughlin finished tied for twelfth overall with a 45.03.
- Noah Diacumakos took silver in the 200 breast with a 1:58.97 in the A final. Julian Maycock (2:02.32) placed third in the B final.
- Kirill Pankov finished second in the B heat of the 200 fly with a 1:49.59. Dean took sixth in that heat (1:51.71).
- Brian Benzing, Fazio, McLaughlin and Schwar took silver in the 400 free relay with a 2:53.68.
