TOWSON, Md. –Towson University catcher Brian Heckelman has been named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Co-Rookie of the Week for his strong performance at the plate last week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
 
It is the first Rookie of the Week honor for Towson since Brett Seils won the award on May 23, 2022 for his strong performance in the final weekend of the season.
 
The Mineola, N.Y. native batted .500 (8-for-16) with two homers, four runs scored and eight RBI in Towson's 2-2 week. The freshman catcher had multiple hits in three games, including a 3-for-5 performance with three RBI in a victory at George Washington. He was 5-for-11 with a pair of homers in the North Carolina A&T series, highlighted by a three-run shot in a 10-3 win last Saturday.
 
On Deck for the Tigers:
Towson opens a five-game homestand with two games against Marist on Tuesday, March 14 and Wednesday, March 15 at Schuerholz Park. Game time for both days is set for 3 p.m. Following that, the Tigers will face off with UNCW in a three-game CAA series from March 17-19.
