ORLANDO, Fla.- The Towson University Tigers tennis team play four matches this week, including three matches in three days. The Black & Gold start this week in Orlando, Florida with a match against West Georgia on Wednesday, March 22nd, then follow with a match against Wisconsin Eau-Claire the following day. The Tigers then return to conference action against North Carolina A&T on Friday, March 24th and warp up the week with a home match against Howard on Sunday, March 26th at 1 p.m. in the Tiger Tennis Complex.

Highly Awarded
Sarah Pospischill was selected as the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Women's Tennis Player of the Week. Pospischill is the first Tiger to win CAA Player of the Week since Phoebe Collins won the honor in 2019. She went 2-0 at No. 1 singles to lead Towson to victories over Rider (4-2) and CAA foe Monmouth (5-2) last week.

The senior from Reisenburg, Austria defeated Rider's Leila Koster, 6-2, 6-4, as the Black & Gold swept the top three singles spots. She followed with a dominant 6-0, 6-2 win over Monmouth's Ann Spurka as Towson again won the top three spots. Pospischill went 1-0 at No. 1 doubles, picking up a win against the duo of Koster/ Agnese Ceccarelli from Rider 6-2.

Last Time Out
The Black & Gold traveled to New York for a pair of CAA matches. The Tigers fell to Stony Brook 6-0 at West Point and followed up with a 6-1 loss against Hofstra.
Olivia Rothfeld picked up the lone win for Towson after dropping the first set 6-2, bit won the next two sets 6-4, 6-2.

Schedule UpdateÂ
The Tigers have a couple of changes to their spring schedule. The Black & Gold have added CAA newcomers North Carolina A&T and Hampton to the schedule. The Tigers will play the Aggies on March 24th in Greensboro, while hosting Hampton at the Tiger Tennis Complex on April 10th. Towson also added Loyola on April 13th at the Tiger Tennis Complex.

Fall RecapÂ
Towson competed in three tournaments during the fall season. The Tigers opened play at the Tribe Invitational and picked up a double win from the duo of
Antonia Lawson/
Olivia Rothfeld. The team then competed in the Bedford Cup, where Rothfeld won her singles bracket over former Tiger
Sissi Axelsson.
Sarah Pospischill finished as a runner-up in her flight, falling to Sifa Butcher 6-4, 6-3. In doubles, the duo of Lawson & Rothfeld won their bracket over Morgan State's Lauryn Hall/Averiana Mitchell. The final tournament Towson participated in was the Fall Tiger Classic. Jessica Assenmacher winning two matches in her final two games as a Tiger. Â Â
West Georgia Scouting Report
The Wolves have accumulated a 6-4 record so far. West Georgia started the season with a three-match winning streak, picking up victories against Point University (7-0), Georgia Southwestern State University (7-0) and Rhodes College (4-2). The Wolves lost the following two matches to Christian Brothers University (5-2) and University of West Alabama (6-1). West Georgia responded with another three-match win streak, securing victories over Wallace State Community College-Hanceville (6-0), Delta State University (4-3) and Shorter University (6-1). In their two recent matches, the Wolves have fallen 6-1 to Auburn University Montgomery and 5-2 to the University of Montevallo. Yesterday, West Georgia picked up 5-2 wins over Hope College and State College of Florida. The Wolves are currently playing Wisconsin Eau-Claire today.

Wisconsin Eau-Claire Scouting Report
The Blugolds have a 3-4 spring record so far. Wisconsin Eau-Claire defeated Carthage College 8-1, then lost 8-1 to Carleton. The Blugolds picked up an 8-1 victory against Lake Forest, then fell in three consecutive matches to Grinnell (6-3), Cardinal Stritch (4-3) and Trinity (7-2). Wisconsin Eau Claire defeated St. Lawrence 5-4 yesterday and will play West Georgia today.

North Carolina A&T Scouting Report
The Lady Aggies have earned a 4-4 overall record and a 0-1 mark in CAA play. North Carolina A&T started its spring season with wins against North Carolina Wesleyan College (5-2) and Mount Olive (4-3). The Lady Aggies lost to Elon 5-0, but picked up a 4-2 victory over Queens. North Carolina A&T followed with three consecutive losses to North Carolina Central (5-2), Morgan State (4-3) and Gardner-Webb (5-2), but in their most recent match the Lady Aggies swept Norfolk State 7-0. North Carolina A&T plays Longwood later today.

Howard Scouting Report
The Bison are 3-9 in their 2023 spring campaign. Howard dropped its first two matches to Temple (5-2) and Lehigh (4-3) but followed up with consecutive victories against Johns Hopkins (5-2) and Villanova (4-2). The Bison lost seven straight matches, including two MEAC matches against South Carolina State (5-2) and North Carolina Central (5-2). Howard are coming off a 5-2 win over Norfolk State in its most recent match.
