TOWSON, Md. – Towson University men's basketball has announced the signing of former North Carolina A&T wing
Marcus Watson starting in the 2023-24 season.
"Marcus is a talented veteran who is a proven scorer who we look forward to immediately impacting our squad," said Towson head coach
Pat Skerry. "Our players and Marcus had a strong connection when he visited, and I know he is excited to get to work in helping us have a memorable upcoming season."
The Buford, Georgia native spent the last two seasons at Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) foe North Carolina A&T. Watson scored 819 points in two seasons in East Greensboro averaging 14.2 points per game this past season, shooting 41.7 percent from the floor and averaging 4.6 rebounds per game. He scored a career-high 28 points against William & Mary in late January. Watson had a pair of double-doubles in 2022-23 including a 12-point, 12-rebound contest against Charleston and a 25 and 12 double-double against Texas Southern.
Prior to North Carolina A&T, Watson spent a year at New Mexico State. While with the Aggies, Watson played in 12 games, averaging 3.4 points a contest. He scored his first collegiate points against California Baptist in early February, averaging 6.5 minutes per game. Watson started his college career at Oklahoma State with one redshirt season.
Watson was a consensus four-star recruit coming out of Buford High School in Georgia. 247Sports.com listed Watson as the 45
th best recruit in the nation and the eighth best shooting guard in 2018-19 and was also on ESPN's Top 100 list. He helped lead Buford to the 2019 Georgia State Championship with a 33-point, 10-rebound performance in the title game.
Towson is coming off a 21-12 campaign that saw the Tigers reach the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Semifinals after back-to-back 20-win seasons for just the second time in program history. Head coach
