Smith, Victor to Continue Professional Careers in UFL

TOWSON, Md. – Former Towson University football players Tye Smith and Darius Victor will continue their professional careers in the newly formed United Football League (UFL) for the upcoming 2024 season.

The UFL will play its first season in 2024 after merging the XFL and the United States Football League (USFL).  The 2024 UFL season will begin on March 30.

Each Smith and Victor were taken by the Memphis Showboats.  Victor was taken in the UFL Super Dispersal Draft while Smith was selected in the UFL Draft.

Smith spent last season with the Orlando Guardians of the XFL after playing 45 games in the National Football League (NFL) from 2015-21 combined with the Seattle Seahawks, the Tennessee Titans and the Minnesota Vikings.  A 2014 All-American at defensive back, Smith tallied up 312 tackles and six interceptions in 50 games played at Towson from 2011-14.

Victor was one of the top players of the USFL, being the 2022 USFL Offensive Player of the Year with the New Jersey Generals, also formerly being on practice squads in the NFL and the Canadian Football League (CFL).  While at Towson, Victor was the 2013 CAA Rookie of the Year and a two-time All-CAA honoree, including First Team in 2014, rushing for 3,309 yards and scoring 41 touchdowns in his collegiate career.

The Memphis Showboats were part of the USFL, moving to the UFL as part of the merger.
