Towson Women’s Basketball Defeats Maryland Eastern Shore

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University women's basketball team resumed its suspended game against the Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks on Wednesday night. The Tigers (11-6, 3-3 CAA) were victorious over the Hawks (8-10, 1-2 MEAC) 60-55.
 
India Johnston led the Tigers with 16 points on 4-of-6 (66.7%) shooting, going 3-of-5 (60.0%) from behind the arc.

  • The Tigers shot 53.8% (7-13) from the floor in the fourth quarter, including knocking down three triples.
  • Towson held the Hawks to 29.7% (19-64) shooting and 20% (3-15) from three.

  • The Tigers opened the first quarter by getting two baskets on their first two possessions to take an early 4-2 lead.
  • The Tigers extended the lead to five after an Alexia Nelson three, but the Hawks went on a 7-0 run to take a 9-7 edge.
  • Patricia Anumgba tied the score on a pull-up jumper as the teams traded free throws with the score at 11 apiece at the end the first quarter.
  • Maryland Eastern Shore opened the second quarter with an 8-2 run.
  • Towson responded with a 6-0 run highlighted by an Anumgba three-pointer to be tied at 19.
  • The Hawks hit a late jumper to take a 21-19 lead into the locker room.
  • The teams went back and forth to open the third quarter, trading the lead five times with the Tigers having a 32-31 edge with 4:28 remaining in the third.

  • Patricia Anumgba finished with double figures for the 14th time this season with 12 points tonight.
