Mortellite Named CAA Men's Co-Rookie Swimmer of the Month

TOWSON, Md. – A week after being named CAA Men's Swimmer of the Week, Anthony Mortellite has been named the October CAA Men's Co-Rookie Swimmer of the Month.
 
Mortellite has the fastest 500 free and 1650 free of any CAA swimmers so far this season. He posted a 4:32.79 in the 500 free prelims and finished the 1650 free in 15:47.84 at the Thomas Murphy Invite. In the 1650 free he completed the first 1000 meters in 9:31.81, which is the 4th best 1000 free in the CAA this season. Mortellite was named CAA Swimmer of the Week for his performance in the three day tournament.
 
Mortellite had eight individual podium finishes in the month of October with five of them being first place. The Freshman has also been a part of five relay teams that have finished in podium position this month.
 
In a Tri-meet against Old Dominion and Johns Hopkins, Mortellite won the 1000 free with a time of 9:38.53. In a dual meet at La Salle, he won the 200 free (1:42.06) and the 500 free (4:43.46). In the Tigers dual meet against Seton Hall, Mortellite won the 1000 free (9:37.04) and the 500 free (4:42.06) and led off the winning 400 free relay team.  
 
The Black & Gold are back in action November 21-23 when the Tigers will enter the Patriot Invitational hosted by George Mason.
