TOWSON, Md. – The honors continue to roll in for
Carter Runyon as the redshirt senior was selected as a 2024 Stats Perform FCS All-America First Team tight end, announced on Wednesday.
Runyon is Towson's first multiple-year All-American since Shane Simpson earned All-America recognition in 2016 and 2018. Runyon is also the first Tiger to be a First Team All-American since three Tigers were First Team All-America in 2018: Simpson, Matt Kauffman and Aidan O'Neill.
In 2023, Runyon became Towson's first-ever Division I tight end to earn All-America status and the third player in Towson history to achieve that feat.
This season, Runyon earned All-Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) First Team at tight end with a team-best 45 receptions and five receiving touchdowns in 12 games, totaling 502 yards. In his two years with Towson, the Fairfax, Virginia native tallied up 88 catches for 1,051 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.
Runyon was just one of eight CAA players, including just two on offense, to earn 2024 Stats Perform FCS All-America First Team recognition. He will be off to the Hula Bowl, one of the top college football all-star games in the country, on Jan. 11 in Orlando, Florida.
