BALTIMORE, Md – The Towson University swimming and diving teams saw its last six entries in the Toyota US Open and took on UMBC and Loyola in a dive meet in Baltimore on Saturday.
In the US Open,
Sean Colson qualified for the finals for the second consecutive day, the Junior placed 13
th in the 200 Back prelims with a time of 1:46.74 to qualify for the B cut final. However, Colson did not compete in the finals due to an illness.
Also on Saturday,
Luke Schwar missed out on finals qualification in the 100 Free by one spot, Schwar finished 25
th with a time of 44.78.
Anthony Mortellite came in 42
nd with a time of 46.10.
David Walton was the Tiger's top finisher in the 200 Breast, Walton placed 33
rd with a time of 2:04.62.
Kirill Pankov (2:05.70) and
Geoffrey Cradock (2:08.00) finished 38
th and 41
st respectively in the preliminary races.
Over in Baltimore, three different divers won events at the UMBC Winter Dive Invite.
Sam Tennell took first place in the 1-meter dive with a score of 288.75,
Aidan Clark (272.30) placed third in the event. Tennell (257.05) and
Grady Gardner (244.65) finished in second and fourth respectively in the 3-meter dive.
Shannon Parrau ran away with the 1-meter dive, she took first place with a score of 280.20,
Abby O'Leary finished second with a score of 243.95. Freshman
Lara Booth Alam took home the gold in the 3-meter dive with a score of 245.60, Parrau (237.50) and O'Leary (237.25) placed third and fourth.
