TOWSON, Md. – Towson men's basketball freshman
Tyler Tejada was named Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie of the Week for a league best fourth time this season, the conference announced Monday. Tejada helped the Tigers to a 1-1 week that saw the New Jersey native drop a career-high 30 points against Monmouth.
Tejada dropped a career-high 30 points in a win against the Hawks on Thursday night at TU Arena. He shot 10-15 from the floor going 4-7 from three and a perfect 6-6 from the foul line. He collected six rebounds with two assists and one steal. His 30-point performance was the first for a Tiger since
Nicolas Timberlake had 34 against Charleston on February 23 last year. The mark also broke the single-game record for points by a freshman, breaking the previous record set by Devin Boyd in 1988 when he had 27 against Gettysburg.
The Tigers will close out the regular season this week with a pair of road contests, starting at North Carolina A&T on Thursday, Feb. 29. Tipoff with the Aggies is set for 7 p.m. on FloHoops.
