TOWSON, Md. – Towson Softball was picked to finish fifth in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Preseason Poll, the conference released on Tuesday. The Tigers also placed senior Mackenzie Lake and sophomore Addie Ferguson on the CAA Preseason Watch List.

Shortstop Mackenzie Lake and catcher Addie Ferguson were named to the CAA Preseason Watch List. Lake was the team's best offensive player a year ago, batting .383 with 69 hits, nine doubles, five triples, six home runs and 38 RBIs. Lake earned All-CAA First Team honors last season. Ferguson recorded 22 hits with five doubles, three home runs and 17 RBIs in her first season with the Tigers. Ferguson earned All-CAA First Team honors while also being named to the All-Rookie Team.

Delaware was picked to finish first garnering three first place votes, edging out CAA newcomer Campbell in second place with six first place votes. Defending CAA champion Hofstra was third with the other three first place votes ahead of UNCW in fourth and Towson in fifth. Elon, Stony Brook, Charleston, North Carolina A&T, Monmouth, Drexel and Hampton rounded out the 12-team field.

The Tigers open the 2024 campaign on Friday, Feb. 9 at the Spartan Classic, hosted by USC Upstate. The Tigers will face Loyola Chicago at 10 a.m. and Toledo at 12:30 p.m. on Friday while also playing South Carolina State and USC Upstate during the weekend.
