Women's Tennis Set for Three Matches Over Six Days

TOWSON, Md.- The Towson University Tigers tennis team is set to play three matches across the next six days. The Tigers will play CAA matches against Stony Brook and the College of Charleston while playing a non-conference matchup against Wagner.

New Faces
The Black & Gold welcome three new players for this upcoming season with two freshmen and one senior transfer. Ashira Murray comes to Towson after playing across the pond in England, while Chandrè Boshoff comes over from South Africa. Mya Spencer joins the Tigers after playing three seasons as Saint Louis and is a Bowie, Maryland native. Spencer totaled 37 singles wins and 35 doubles wins for the Billikens.                                                                                                                                                                         

Fall Recap 
Towson competed in five tournaments during the fall season. The Tigers started with three wins in the Towson Hidden Dual Tournament. At the Tribe Invitational, the Tigers picked up five wins with Mya Spencer winning a consolation bracket championship. Towson competed in the Navy Blue & Gold Invitational next. The Tigers totaled two singles wins and one doubles victory. The Black & Gold went down the road and took part in the Greyhounds Women's Tennis Classic. Towson picked up 11 victories as three doubles pairs reached their respective finals. The Tigers closed out the fall season at the ITA Atlantic Regional.

Last Week Recap
The Black & Gold hosted the Hofstra Pride last Saturday at the Coppermine Bare Hills. Mya Spencer and Sania Suchinsky won their respective singles matches in a tiebreaking set, while in doubles play, the duo of Erin Gray and Olivia Rothfeld were victorious in their match 6-2 as the Tigers fell 5-2 to the Pride.

Stony Brook Scouting Report
The Seawolves bring in a 2-7 record with a 1-0 mark in conference play. Stony Brook started the season with losses to Army and Sacred Heart, but defeated Fairfield 5-2. The Seawolves fell in their next three matches to UConn, Quinnipiac and Seton Hall. Stony Brook then picked up a 6-1 victory over Monmouth in its CAA opener. In their last two matches, the Seawolves were edged by Bryant 4-3 and fell to Rhode Island 5-2.

Wagner Scouting Report
The Seahawks have accumulated a 3-9 overall record while going 0-3 in NEC play. Wagner opened the season with a 4-0 sweep over Holy Cross, then lost its next three matches against Colgate, Seton Hall and Columbia. The Seahawks were victorious over Providence 5-2, but fell to Le Moyne and Sacred Heart to start NEC play. Wagner bounced back with a 4-1 win over Norfolk State. In their three most recent matches, the Seahawks have lost to NJIT, FDU and Temple. Wagner will take on Binghamton on Friday night before playing the Black & Gold on Saturday.

College of Charleston Scouting Report
The Cougars currently have an 8-3 record and have a 1-0 record in the CAA. Charleston started the season by picking up wins over Queens, East Carolina and Coastal Carolina, but fell to Clemson and Georgia Southern in the following two matches. The Cougars then went on a four-match winning streak by defeating Presbyterian, Bethune-Cookman, Sacred Heart and Samford. Charleston fell to Toledo 4-3, but picked a 5-2 over Campbell to start conference play. The Cougars will play Richmond, William & Mary and Murray State before playing the Tigers next Tuesday.

Towson will host CAA foe Monmouth on Tuesday, March 26th at 3 p.m. at the Tiger Tennis Complex.
