TOWSON, Md. – Rain in the area did not stop the Towson University football team from kicking off the 2024 spring season on Saturday afternoon as the Tigers are getting set for the fall.
The Tigers headed to the Lower Field Complex in the rain on Saturday morning as the coaching staff got a chance to see its players, including returners and newcomers, for a full field practice.
It was the first spring practice for the 85-man spring roster, including 14 newcomers who will get to practice in the spring. The Tigers ran through workouts, drill and formations in the first scheduled practice.
Towson will practice at the Lower Fields Complex as the spring campaign will continue through April 11
th. Towson is gearing up for the fall for the second season under head coach
Pete Shinnick.
"We are excited to get back out here," said Shinnick. "Our guys have done a fantastic job in our offseason workouts. This is completely different than a year ago; we are so much further along than we were in scheme and understanding everybody, and the players understanding how and why we do things. Expect us to be further along and more advanced than we were, and I'm excited to see that play out."
The Tigers are coming off their first season under Coach Shinnick, earning two road victories over then top-15 programs New Hampshire and William & Mary. Going 4-4 in CAA play, the Tigers have earned a .500 or better CAA year four of the last five fall seasons.
