IRVING, Texas – Jamal Gay has been honored as a member of the 2024 National Football Foundation (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society, announced by the NFF on Wednesday.
 
To qualify, players must have at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average (GPA), been a starter or significant contributor and have completed collegiate play.  All players are nominated by their respective schools.
 
This is the sixth straight year where Towson has had at least one player earn this prestigious distinction.  Last year, five Tigers were honored: Mason Cholewa, Ryan Kearney, Robert Schwob, Vinnie Shaffer and Roman Wahrheit.
 
Gay is one of 1,989 players across 339 schools to qualify for Hampshire Honor Society membership this year.
 
A two-time College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Honoree, the Beltsville, Maryland native earned his undergraduate degree in entrepreneurship in 2022 with a 3.693 GPA and is currently in graduate school for marketing intelligence, holding a 3.814 GPA. 
 
He started all 11 games at linebacker this year, finishing second on the team with 74 total tackles and adding 3.5 tackles for loss and an interception.  He notched at least six tackles in seven different games in 2023.
