Towson Men’s Lacrosse Trio Honored as 2024 USILA All-Americans

TOWSON, Md. – The awards continue to roll in for the Tigers as three Towson University men's lacrosse players have been recognized as United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-Americans, announced by the organization on Thursday.
 
Mikey Weisshaar has been honored as a Second Team USILA All-American at midfielder while Colby Barsz and Nick DeMaio are each USILA All-America Honorable Mention at defense and attack, respectively.
 
All three players earn their third All-America honor of the season, also being recognized by Inside Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse.  The trio were all First Team All-Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) players at their respective positions.
 
Weisshaar finished as Towson's leading goal-scorer with 42, adding 19 assists for 61 points in 17 starts in the Towson first midfield.  Against teams who competed in the NCAA Tournament, the Arnold, Maryland native averaged 3.5 goals per game, including a five-goal performance vs. Virginia on March 9.
 
Barsz stood as Towson's top close defender, being the team's leader in caused turnovers with 22, adding 28 ground balls in 17 starts.  The Matthews, North Carolina native also earned CAA All-Tournament Team, notching three caused turnovers in the title game victory over Delaware on May 4.
 
DeMaio, the CAA Offensive Player of the Year and CAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player, led all Tigers in points with 82 off 32 goals and 50 assists in 17 starts.  The graduate student from San Diego earned five games with at least five assists, including a CAA Tournament record 11 assists in the combined two games.
 
In 2024, Towson had its best season since 2019, earning a 13-4 record with CAA Tournament and regular season titles, going undefeated against league opponents.  Towson earned a bid into the NCAA Tournament, falling to 4-seed Syracuse 20-15 in the first round in central New York.
