UTICA, N.Y. – Towson University graduate
Jean-Luc Chetner has earned a spot with Team Israel for the 2024 World Lacrosse Box Championship starting this week.
Chetner has been a longtime member of Israel Box Lacrosse, including helping the team win the 2017 European Box Championship with four goals and two assists in the 8-7 title game victory vs. the Czech Republic. He was a member of Team Israel Box Lacrosse in 2019, which finished fifth in the championship in Langley, British Columbia. Chetner finished with eight goals and 16 assists in the three playoff games for Israel.
He also played for 2018 Team Israel field lacrosse, helping the team to a seventh place finish in Israel.
After three years at Richmond, Chetner played for Towson in 2018, earning 32 points off 17 goals and 15 assists plus was named to the CAA All-Tournament Team.
Israel will compete in Pool B along with Belgium, Hong Kong China and Mexico. Team Israel is currently ranked No. 5 in the men's box world rankings.
The tournament will be held from Sept. 20-29 in Utica, New York in three venues: the Utica University Nexus Center, the Adirondack Bank Center and the Mary C. Winder Community Center.
