WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Towson University Field Hockey team is back on the road following a 3-2 five game home stand. The Tigers continue conference play on Friday vs William & Mary in Williamsburg at 11:00 a.m., then heads to Richmond to visit the Spiders on Sunday also at 11:00 a.m.
Scouting the Opponents:
- William & Mary is 0-8 on the season with four of those games being against top 25 opponents. The Tribe is playing its first CAA game of the season.
- Richmond is 5-2 after winning its A10 opener at Saint Louis, both Spider losses have been to ranked opponents. Richmond defeated William & Mary 7-1 on September 1.
Freshmen on Fire:
- Three freshmen, forward Anouk Westerink and midfielders Fiene Valkenberg and Olivia Miller have started every game for Towson this year.
- Westerink leads the Tigers with four goals and has an assist, she was named the CAA Rookie of the Week following the Sept. 13 & 15 games against Georgetown and Queens.
- Valkenburg has a goal and three assists on the season, and Miller currently has one goal and one assist for the season.
Guess Who's Back:
- Fifth year senior Sarah Hatfield made her return to the field against Delaware after missing the previous two games. Hatfield scored a hat trick on Sept. 6 against Saint Francis and is top 15 all-time in Towson goals(11th) and points (14th).
Familiar Face:
- When Towson faces William & Mary on Friday it will be the third collegiate match up between Towson's Lexi Bove and William & Mary's Olivia Stocks, who were high school teammates at Stafford High School in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
