Towson Men’s Lacrosse Dominates Preseason All-CAA Awards

TOWSON, Md. – Fresh off winning last year's league title, the Towson University men's lacrosse team is well represented in the 2025 Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Preseason Men's Lacrosse Awards, announced on Wednesday.

Towson is predicted to take first in the league in 2025 in the preseason coaches order of finish.  Towson received six first-place votes for 48 points, followed by Delaware with two first-place votes and 44 points.  The rest of the poll in order is Fairfield (36), Drexel (27), Stony Brook (25), Hofstra (23), Monmouth (14) and Hampton (7).

Mikey Weisshaar continues to add to his trophy case, being named the CAA Preseason Player of the Year.  He is one of five Towson players to be selected to the Preseason All-CAA Team, being joined by Joaquin Villagomez, Matt Constantinides, Sam Morin and Conor Spagnolli.  In addition, two Tigers, Bode Maurer and Luke Downs, are Honorable Mention Preseason All-CAA.

Seven players recognized are the most for a CAA men's lacrosse team in the preseason awards.

The Preseason All-CAA teams and order of finish were nominated and voted on by the league's head coaches.  Head coaches could not vote for their own players/team.

Weisshaar, the 2025 USA Lacrosse Preseason Midfielder of the Year, was Towson's leading goal-scorer last season with 42, adding 19 assists for 61 points.  The junior started all 17 games in the first midfield last season, earning All-America honors from USILA, Inside Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse Magazine.

Villagomez started 16 games at attack last season, finishing third on the team with 33 goals, adding 12 assists and 24 ground balls.  In 2024, he had a span of five straight games scoring at least three goals in each game.

Constantinides has earned All-CAA honors in all three years played, notching First Team last season.  He won 57.3% of faceoffs last year for 205 total faceoff wins, adding 97 ground balls and six goals.  He is currently 24 faceoff wins away from tying for most all-time in Towson history.

Morin was 2024 All-CAA Second Team last season after leading all Tiger non-short stick players with 51 ground balls, adding 15 caused turnovers.  The senior LSM had played in all 17 games, having 12 games with multiple ground balls.

Spagnolli earns his first Preseason All-CAA honor after being a starting close defenseman for all 17 games last year, assisting the No. 2-ranked scoring defense in the country.  He finished last year with 16 caused turnovers and 34 ground balls.

Maurer started all 17 games at attack last season, earning CAA All-Tournament Team with a CAA Tournament record 11 goals in the tournament and seven goals in a single game.  He finished the year with 36 goals, having 11 games with multiple goals scored.

Downs, in his first year starting last season, was All-CAA Second Team after finishing fifth in DI with a 9.40 goals allowed average paced by a 52.8% save rate.  He saved 160 shots and earned an 11-4 record in 2024.
