Kuranga Named CAA Co-Women’s Golfer of the Week

TOWSON, Md. - After securing her first collegiate individual title at the Red Flash Invitational this week, sophomore Victoriah Kuranga has been named the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Co-Women's Golfer of the Week for the first time in her career, as announced by the league on Wednesday.

Madison Barber was the last Towson women's golfer to earn this award in October of 2023.

Kuranga opened the Red Flash Invitational on Monday in fourth place after shooting a 4-over 76 with two birdies. The sophomore followed up with an even-par 72 in Tuesday's second round, highlighted by three birdies and an eagle - her lowest collegiate round to date. The performance propelled her into a tie for first place with Duquesne's Sasha Petrochko. Kuranga went on to secure the individual title in a playoff, carding pars on all three holes while Petrochko finished with two pars and a double bogey.

Kuranga's performance supported a third-place finish for the Tigers, marking the team's highest tournament finish since October of 2023 at the Navy Fall Invite where Towson placed second overall.

The Black & Gold will conclude their fall season at the Edisto Island Invitational, hosted by CAA foe College of Charleston from October 27-28.
