TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University field hockey team plays its final game of the 2025 regular season on Friday, October 31 at 3 p.m. when the Tigers visit Hofstra. Both teams need a win to clinch a Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) postseason berth.
Scouting the Opponent:
The Hofstra Pride are 8-8 this season and currently have a 1-3 CAA record entering Friday's contest most recently earning a 2-0 win over William & Mary. Senior Teresa Karoff leads the conference in goals with 12 and points with 27 and freshman Gwenn van Dijk is second in the CAA with nine assists. Goalie Luci Hollister is allowing under two goals per game in 15 appearances.
Postseason Implications:
The top four teams in the CAA based on conference record qualify for the CAA postseason tournament. Towson is currently in fourth place with a 2-2 record while Hofstra sits in fifth with a 1-3 record. The winner of Friday's game will earn the final spot in the CAA playoffs; it would be Towson's first CAA postseason berth since the 2011 season.
Tiger Notes:
- Roos Wiarda scored her first collegiate goal during Friday's game against Monmouth.
- Tessa Scheenstra set a new career high with 16 saves against the Hawks. Her third save of the game gave her 100 saves for the season, the second time in her career she reached triple digit saves in a season.
- Against Bucknell on October 19, Scheenstra made her 400th career save.
- Lydia Bennett currently leads the CAA in defensive saves with four.
