Towson Football Plays Final 2025 Regular Season Road Game at UAlbany

ALBANY, N.Y. – The Towson University football team is headed north for its final road game of the 2025 regular season, taking on UAlbany on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 1 p.m.
 
The game will be broadcast online on FloCollege, available via subscription, with Michael Johnson Jr. and Matt Kearns on the call. In addition, Ben Rosenbaum and Gordy Combs will have the radio call on Towsontigers.com from Tom & Mary Casey Stadium.
 
Towson fell to then-No. 10/8 Villanova at home on Saturday 28-10 to enter this contest at 4-6 overall and 2-4 in the CAA.  UAlbany, which is celebrating is Senior Day on Saturday, lost its sixth straight game to Bryant 27-24 last week at home to be 1-9 overall and 0-6 in the CAA.
 
Towson leads the all-time series 5-4 vs. UAlbany, with the Great Danes having the last victory, a 24-17 win in Unitas on Nov. 7, 2023.  This is the first matchup of the series in Albany since Oct. 20, 2018, a 56-28 win for the Tigers.  Towson is 3-2 vs. UAlbany since the Great Danes joined the CAA in football in 2013.
 
UAlbany is under the leadership of interim head coach Jared Ambrose, who formerly was an assistant coach at Towson from 2009-18 and is the brother of former Towson head coach Rob Ambrose.
 
THIRD YEAR IN PETE SHINNICK ERA
Towson enters its third season under head coach Pete Shinnick in 2025.  Under coach Shinnick, Towson has earned three victories over then-top-15 teams, including a 34-27 win vs. then-#12/10 William & Mary on Oct. 5, 2024.
 
Towson has had five head coaches in program history: Carl Runk (1969-71), Phil Albert (1972-91), Gordy Combs (1992-2008), Rob Ambrose (2009-22) and Pete Shinnick (2023-pres.).
 
BRODIE, TERRY EARN PRESEASON ALL-CAA
Towson defensive backs Myles Brodie and Xavier Terry have been placed on the 2025 CAA Preseason All-Conference Team.  In addition, two more Tigers, John Dunmore and Rodney Roane Jr., were chosen as CAA Football Preseason All-Conference Honorable Mention.
 
Brodie was a 2024 All-CAA Third Team defensive back for Towson, having the team lead with two interceptions and nine pass break-ups.  The redshirt senior cornerback added 44 tackles and had a four-game streak with at least one pass break-up.
 
Terry has been in the top-two for Towson in tackles in each of the past two seasons, including last year tallying up 82 tackles, five pass break-ups, an interception and two forced fumbles.  The redshirt senior safety had at least four tackles in all 12 games last season.
 
In his first full year with the team in 2024, Dunmore was Towson's leader in receiving yards with 619 and receiving touchdowns with five.  Also serving as a special teams returner, the redshirt senior wide receiver had at least 35 receiving yards in 10 games last year.
 
Roane played all 12 games at linebacker in 2024, finishing second on the team with four sacks, adding 58 tackles and five tackles for loss.  The senior had at least three tackles in all 12 games last season.
 
RACKING UP RECEIVING TOUCHDOWNS
Towson's primary two wide receivers have combined for 10 receiving touchdowns, with Jaceon Doss and John Dunmore each having five touchdowns.
 
Their five receiving touchdowns tie the most for a Tiger in a single season since 2019, when Shane Leatherbury had 12 touchdowns.  Towson's 17 receiving touchdowns are the most in a single season since 2019, when Towson had 22 receiving touchdowns.
 
MOVING UP THE SACKS LIST
During the Shinnick era, Towson has caused more pressure on the quarterback with 33 sacks in 2024.  With 29 sacks in 2023, Towson has had its top two sack totals in a season since 2013.  Towson's six sacks vs. N.C. A&T on Nov. 16, 2024 ties the most amount in a game for the Tigers since having seven at Villanova on Oct. 27, 2012.

Towson has a lot of depth in those catching the football, currently having four players who have at least 800 career receiving yards.  John Dunmore surpassed the career 1000-yard mark on Oct. 11, while Jaceon Doss surpassed that mark on Nov. 1.

TOWSON PICKED SIXTH IN CAA PRESEASON POLL
The Tigers were predicted to finish sixth in the league in the preseason coaches poll.  Towson received 108 points in the poll.  Defending CAA co-champion Rhode Island is predicted to finish first followed by Monmouth and Villanova.

TIGERS IN THE PROS
Several Tigers have been competing in the professional ranks after their time with the Black & Gold.
 
Carter Runyon was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Las Vegas Raiders, later being placed on the practice squad.  He was elevated to the active roster on Sept. 28, making his professional debut vs. the Indianapolis Colts on Oct. 5.  It is the second straight year where Towson has had an undrafted free agent signing, with Robert Javier signing with the Tennessee Titans in 2024.
 
Another Towson alum, Grant Udinski '19, is the offensive coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2025.  A 2018 CSC Academic All-America® First Team defensive lineman, he spent the last three years as assistant OC for the Minnesota Vikings.
 
In the CFL, Tibo Debaillie '21 is playing his fifth year as a professional, including season four with the BC Lions.  The Belgium native has played 62 career games in the CFL.

LAFOLLETTE - CAMPBELL TROPHY SEMIFINALIST
Bryce LaFollette was named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy® on Sept. 24.  The Campbell Trophy®, awarded by the National Football Foundation (NFF), recognizes an individual as the absolute best scholar-athlete in the nation for combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership.
 
LaFollette is Towson's punter, averaging 43.8 yards per punt, including 10 punts over 50 yards and 14 landing inside the 20-yard line.  In the classroom, the redshirt junior is set to graduate in the spring with a degree in marketing/business administration.  He is also an active community service contributor with Towson football and in his hometown.
 
INDORF - JERRY RICE AWARD WATCH LIST
Towson is starting a true freshman at quarterback, Andrew Indorf.  His play has earned him a spot on the Jerry Rice Award Watch List, the award for the top freshman in FCS play.  The three-time CAA Rookie of the Week is passing 59.6% with 1952 yards, 11 touchdowns and three interceptions.
 
It is the first time Towson has started a true freshman since Peter Athens started six games in 2009.  Indorf was selected to start at QB above Sean Brown, Towson's starting QB in 2024, and Nathan Kent, the starting QB for the Tigers in 2023.
 
XAVIER TERRY - 200+ CAREER TACKLES
On Oct. 4, Xavier Terry surpassed the career 200-tackle mark, all in his time with Towson from 2021-25.  He currently stands with 239 career tackles.
 
A converted linebacker, the 2023 Wardell Turner Scholarship recipient has been a starter at safety for Towson since the beginning of the Pete Shinnick era in 2023.  He was the team's leading tackler in 2023 with 75 and was second in 2024 with 82.
 
WILLIAMS - FRED MITCHELL AWARD MIDSEASON WATCH LIST
Caden Williams has been selected as one of 38 players on the 2025 Fred Mitchell Award Midseason Watch List.  The Fred Mitchell Award is given annually to the top place-kicker in FCS, DII, DII, NAIA and NJCAA for excellence on the football field and in the community.
 
Williams, a senior, took over placekicking duties this year along with being the primary kickoff man.  The Allen, Texas native is kicking 85.7% (12-for-14) on field goals, including a 50-yard field goal in the season-opening victory at Norfolk State.  He is also a perfect 26-for-26 on extra point attempts.
 
LAST GAME (NO. 10/8 VILLANOVA 28, TOWSON 10)
(11/8/2025 - TOWSON, MD.):
Towson was within four points of No. 10/8 Villanova with just over four minutes left in the game but could not finish as the Tigers fell to the Wildcats 28-10.

The Towson roster represents the Old Line State well, sporting 43 players from the home state of Maryland.  This includes 10 players from Baltimore City/County: Xzavion Crumb (Baltimore), Chase Dorsey (Parkton), Julius Dorsey (Baltimore), Alijah Hamond (Baltimore), Asaiah Hamond (Baltimore), Cordell Jefferson (Baltimore), Bennett Miller (Timonium), Amari N'nandi Hall (Pikesville), Owen Scheihing (Towson) and Isaiah Yates (Baltimore).
 
...AND THE SUNSHINE STATE
Towson has 13 players from the state of Florida on the roster.  Towson head coach Pete Shinnick was at the University of West Florida (UWF) from 2016-22.  Among the 13 include Fort Lauderdale native John Dunmore, Towson's leading receiver in 2024 with 619 yards.
 
Though a Texas native, Caden Williams, Towson's kickoff specialist, is a UWF transfer who played for Shinnick in 2022.
 
TOWSON TO APPEAR ON MONUMENTAL SPORTS NETWORK
Four Towson football home games will be appearing on Monumental Sports Network this season.  The home of the Washington Capitals, Mystics and Wizards, Monumental Sports Network is based out of Bethesda and is aired across the DMV, spanning from Pennsylvania, West Virginia and North Carolina.
 
In addition, all Towson home games and road games at CAA opponents will be aired on FloFootball, the exclusive streaming home of the CAA.  Spiro Morekas and Gordy Combs return as the Towson football broadcast team.
 
SCOUTING UALBANY:
Interim head coach Jared Ambrose took over his duty after the departure of Greg Gattuso, head coach at UAlbany from 2014-24, who left in February.
 
Buffalo and ODU transfer Jack Shields stands at quarterback, throwing 51.2% for 1,592 yards, 10 touchdowns and seven picks.  Junior Griffin Woodell and sophomore Jojo Uga split the carries, combining to average 4.3 yards a carry.   Tied for second in the CAA with 13 tackles for loss, junior defensive lineman Balansama Kamara has tallied 61 tackles, 7.0 sacks and three forced fumbles.
 
LAST TIME VS. UALBANY (UALBANY 21, TOWSON 14)
(10/7/2023 - TOWSON, MD.):
Towson took the lead in the third quarter off 14 straight points, having a 17-14 advantage on Homecoming, but fell to UAlbany 24-17.

IMPORTANT DATES: TOWSON VS. UALBANY
--Oct. 24, 1970 (Towson, Md. - Towson State 69-14):
1970 was the second year of Towson State football under coach Carl Runk, playing in DIII, while Albany State was in its first year of reviving the program after 46 years, playing as a club team under Bob Ford, who would coach the Great Danes from 1970 to 2013. Towson State won the game 69-14; the Tigers threw for 296 yards, including Stan Boone and Bob Remeto each having two receiving touchdowns.
 
--Nov. 15, 2003 (Towson, Md. - Towson 35-16):
In just the third game since Johnny Unitas® Stadium was dedicated to the former Colts legend, Towson defeated NEC co-champion UAlbany 35-16, including three second quarter touchdowns. Helping hold UAlbany to 77 passing yards, Mike Collier and P.D. Moore each earned 11 tackles on defense.
 
--Oct. 19, 2013 (Albany, N.Y. - Towson 44-17)
UAlbany played Towson on its Homecoming in the first year in the CAA for the Great Danes. UAlbany scored the first touchdown, then Towson responded with a 38-3 run to win 44-17.  Towson combined for 573 total offensive yards, including Terrance West rushing for 183 yards and two scores and Spencer Wilkins making six catches for 129 yards and a touchdown.
 
LAFOLLETTE POWERING PUNTS
Bryce LaFollette is looking to add his name to the Towson record book, currently averaging 43.6 yards per punt in his two seasons at Towson.  That mark would stand as the most yards per punt for a Towson punter in a two-year span.
 
The record is currently held by Shane McDonough, who averaged 42.9 yards per punt in two combined seasons in 2019 and 2021.  The four-year record is held by Sean Landeta, who had 42 yards a punt from 1979-82.
 
TOWSON WINS THE BATTLE FOR GREATER BALTIMORE
John Dunmore's TD catch with 24 seconds left returned The Battle for Greater Baltimore trophy to Towson as the Tigers defeated Morgan State 27-22 on Sept. 6 in a matchup of the two closest teams in FCS football, separated by 4.6 miles.
 
Towson is now 24-6 all-time against the Bears, having won eight straight games.  Morgan State's last win in the series came on Sept. 26, 2009, a 12-9 victory in Baltimore.
 
CARL RUNK (1936-2024)
The first-ever head coach of Towson football Carl Runk passed away on Nov. 24, 2024 at the age of 88.
 
He served as head coach for three years from 1969-71, including a 6-2 season in 1970.  He also was head coach of Towson men's lacrosse from 1968-98, leading that team to 262 victories and the 1974 DII national championship.  Runk was inducted into the Towson Athletics Hall of Fame in 2007.
