TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University women's basketball team hosted cross-town foe Coppin State on Sunday afternoon at SECU Arena.
The Tigers (3-2) posted their third game this season with more than 10 threes made, going 12-23 from behind the arc, to secure the 65-54 win over Coppin State (1-4) at SECU Arena.

- Towson shot 52.2% (12-23) from behind the arc in the game while holding Coppin State to a 31.3% (5-16) mark
- The Tigers got 26 points from their bench, including a career-high 14 points for redshirt freshman, Viki Matulevicius.
- The Black & Gold caused 19 Eagle turnovers and scored 19 points off those turnovers.
How it Happened
- The Tigers offense was balanced to start the game, with Zoli Khalil (2), Thalia Shepard (3), India Johnston (2) and Tilda Sjökvist (3) all scoring through the first 4:44 of the game.
- Matulevicius hit two triples in the closing minutes of the first quarter to take a 20-12 lead into the first break.
- The redshirt freshman hit the Tigers' first shot of the second quarter, another trey, to make it 23-14.
- Both teams scored 11 points through the rest of the second quarter, giving TU a 34-25 lead at the halftime break. India Johnston (3), Aidan Langley (2), Khalil (2), Sjökvist (2) and Matulevicius (2) scored for the Tigers through the end of the half.
- Coppin State got the deficit down to two with 3:25 remaining in the third quarter.
- The Tigers closed the quarter on a 6-2 run to push their lead back to six at 46-40.
- Towson started the fourth quarter on another run, this time 6-2, to push the lead up to 10 with 7:33 left in the game.
- Sjökvist scored the Tigers' next nine points of the game, extending the lead to 61-49 with just under two minutes to go.
- Sjökvist hit the front end of two free throws in the closing seconds to give Towson
Inside the Numbers
- Sjökvist finished with 15 points on 5-7 shooting from the field. She added five assists, two rebounds and one steal.
- Matulevicius finished with a career-high 14 points on 5-6 shooting from the field, adding two rebounds and one block. Matulevicius was 4-4 from deep.
- Kayla Morris posted a season-high six blocks, adding nine rebounds on the day.
