TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University women's basketball team opened its 2025-26 home slate vs. Frostburg State on Friday night at SECU Arena.
A 28-8 second quarter in favor of Towson (1-1) put the Tigers up by 25 at the break over Frostburg State (0-0). The Black & Gold outscored the Bobcats, 60-22, in the second half to win 100-37 in the team's home opener.

- Frostburg State had 28 turnovers in the game, compared to Towson's 11. The Tigers scored 39 points off those turnovers.

How it Happened
- After Frostburg State hit the opening shot of the game, the Tigers responded with 10 straight points. Hannah Dereje, Thalia Shepard, Kayla Morris, Zoli Khalil and Semaya Turner each had two points to begin the game.
- The Bobcats cut the deficit to five over the final 2:44 of the first quarter at 12-7.
- Towson began the second quarter with a 10-4 run over the opening 2:29 of the game. Khalil had five points in the run.
- Moments later, Tilda Sjökvist hit three-straight triples on consecutive Tiger possessions to put the Black & Gold up 31-12.
- The Tigers held the Bobcats scoreless for over six minutes late in the second quarter. The Bobcats scored their first field goal since 8:23 on the clock with 11 seconds left in the half.
- Turner (2), Aidan Langley (1) and Khalil (4) scored the Tigers' final seven points of the first half.
- Towson scored on nine-straight possessions without a turnover to start the second half. From India Johnston's made layup with 9:11 on the clock, the Tigers scored 18 unanswered points.
- Shepard's layup at 5:57 made it a 60-18 game.
- Morris hit two treys late in the quarter, with the lead growing to 48 at 75-27.
- Aidan Langley recorded her first collegiate field goal on a layup with 4:24 left in the game.
- Asya Lara Barnes hit her first collegiate field goal, a three, with 2:20 on the clock.
- The Tigers closed the final quarter on a 19-0 run over the final 4:53 to win, 100-37.
Inside the Numbers
- Shepard paced the Tigers with 20 points. She added a career-high six steals in the game.
- Sjökvist finished with nine points, four assists and three rebounds. She was perfect from distance (3-3) on the night.
- Morris posted 14 points, eight rebounds and three blocks. She matched her 2024-25 season high point total, 14 vs. Hampton on Jan. 24, 2025. She was 6-8 from the field and 2-4 from behind the arc.
