TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University gymnastics team returned home and delivered its highest scoring of the season, notching a 195.575 to win the George McGinty Alumni Meet on Saturday night.
 
Towson defeated Illinois State (194.675), which was ranked No. 34 in the Road to Nationals standings, Bowling Green (191.575) and William & Mary (190.650).
 
Isabella Minervini earned the all-around title with a 39.275 score while Chelsey Dennis won the uneven bars with the only 9.9 score on the event.
 
How it Happened for Towson (in Rotation Order)

• Vault – 48.750
  • Towson started off on the vault and improved on each routine through the opening five.  Ava Harper went third and notched a 9.700, the fifth time this year with at least a 9.7.
  • Polina Belanovski earned a 9.800, then Isabella Minervini notched a career-best 9.850.
• Bars – 49.225
  • Lauren Keener got Towson off to a strong start on a 9.850.  Third and fourth went Clara Hong with a 9.800 and Polina Belanovski on a 9.825.
  • Chelsey Dennis set a new career-high with her first-ever 9.900 to take the individual title of the event.  Isabella Minervini followed with a 9.850 to help earn Towson's 49.225.
• Beam – 48.900
  • Ana Kenefick got Towson started on a 9.750, followed by Isabella Minervini on a 9.850. 
  • Needing to wipe out a fall, Towson finished strongly with a 9.775 from Clara Hong, a 9.675 from Lauren Keener and a 9.850 from Chelsey Dennis.
• Floor – 48.700
  • With the rotation changing just before the start, Felicia Poblete began with a 9.600, followed by Isabella DeCroo earning a season-high 9.825.
  • Isabella Minervini again hit a strong score with a 9.725, followed by Polina Belanovski earning a 9.825.  Returning to the floor rotation for the first time since the first meet, Adriana Hoffman notched a 9.725 to complete the meet.

Inside the Numbers

• Isabella Minervini has won the all-around competition twice in three competitions.  Her 39.275 is tied for 10^th all-time in Towson history in the all-around.
• Chelsey Dennis wins the uneven bars event for the second time this year, also winning on Jan. 11.
• 49.225 is the highest bars score of the season, surpassing the 49.200 on Jan. 17.

Next Meet

• Towson gets set for another quad-meet on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 1 p.m. in New Haven, Connecticut.  Towson takes on Yale, Brown and New Hampshire.
