Swimming & Diving Wrap Up CSCAA Invitational Championship

OCALA, Fl – Towson University sent 9 men's swimmers and 10 women's swimmers to compete in the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Invitational in Ocala, Florida from Thursday, March 13 through Saturday, March 15.
 
Towson finished 15th overall with 360 total points. The men finished 16th with a score of 190, and the women accumulated 170 points to finish tied for 20th.
 
How it Happened: Thursday
 Men
  • Sean Colson tied for 23rd in the 50 Back prelims with a time of 23.05, Hugo Haggard finished 32nd at 23.34.
  • Anthony Mortellite placed 25th in the 500 Free with a time of 4:34.43.
  • Benjamin Eischeid took 25th place in the 50 Fly with a time of 22.05 while Nicco Gurri came in 35th at 22.32.
  • David Walton swam a 1:51.01 time in the 200 IM to place 23rd.
  • Geoffrey Cradock finished tied for 28th in the 50 Breast with a time of 25.72.
  • Luke Schwar swam 20.46 in the 50 Free to place 20th and qualify for the B-finals. He finished 16th in the finals at 20.36.
  • Daniel McLaughlin placed 31st in the 50 Free with a time of 20.74, Eischeid (20.94) finished tied for 43rd and Colson finished 58th at 21.38.
  • Schwar, McLaughlin, Colson and Gurri swam a time of 1:21.85 to finish 14th in the 200 Free Relay.
  • In the 400 Medley Relay: Haggard, Cradock, Eischeid and Schwar took 15th with a time of 3:16.48.
Women
  • Martina Ciriesi qualified for the B-cut finals in the 50 back placing 19th with a time of 25.71. Ciriesi finished 18th in the finals heat with a time of 25.78.
  • Addie Scott swam a time of 4:56.57 to finish 31st in the 500 Free, Bridget Thomas came in 39th with a time of 5:01.10.
  • Laura Gaffney finished 40th in the 200 IM with a time of 2:04.80, Riley Willett came in 54th.
  • Tiffany Matulis placed 32nd in the 50 Breast with a time of 29.18.
  • Bjartey Gudmundsdottir (23.34), Claire Ryland (23.38) and Marissa Kleckner (23.39) finished 22nd, T-25th, and T-27th respectively in the 50 Free.
  • The team of Ciriesi, Matulis, Willett and Kleckner placed 26th in the 400 Medley Relay with a time of 3:47.51.
  • Ryland, Kleckner, Willett and Gudmundsdottir took 6th place in the 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:32.19.
 
How it Happened: Friday
Men:  
Women:
  • Addie Scott swam 1:50.08 in the 200 Free to place 15th and qualify for the B-cut final. In the final, she again placed 15th with an improved time of 1:49.78.
  • Martina Ciriesi finished 22nd in the 100 Back prelims with a time of 55.23.
  • Tiffany Matulis came in 47th in the 100 Breast with a time of 1:04.21.
  • Riley Willett placed 44th in the 100 Fly with a time of 56.34.
  • The team of Ciriesi, Matulis, Willett and Kleckner finished 14th in the 200 Medley Relay swimming a time of 1:41.32.
  • Scott, Bridget Thomas, Laura Gaffney and Danielle McCarthy swam 7:30.08 in the 800 Free Relay to place 18th.
 
 
How it Happened: Saturday
Men:
  • Sean Colson took 4th in the 200 back prelims with a time of 1:44.80. He swam 1:42.93 in the finals to place 5th.
  • Luke Schwar finished 18th in the 100 free swimming 44.52 for his second finals qualification of the meet. Daniel McLaughlin swam 44.87 to place 20th and qualify. Ben Eischeid finished 34th with a time of 45.90.
  • In the 100 Free finals: McLaughlin swam 43.99 to jump up to 14th, Schwar placed 19th with a time of 44.25.
  • Geoffrey Cradock came in 31st in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:03.48.
  • Nicco Gurri placed 24th in the 200 Fly swimming a time of 1:50.32. Anthony Mortellite finished right behind him in 27th with a time of 1:51.11.
  • David Walton swam 50.65 in the 100 IM and placed 25th, Cradock came in 43rd at 51.99.
  • Schwar, McLaughlin, Eischeid and Hugo Haggard finished 7th in the 400 Free Relay with a time of 2:56.55.
 
Women:
  • Marissa Kleckner finished 34th in the 100 Free swimming 51.20, Claire Ryland came in 43rd with a time of 51.44.
  • Laura Gaffney placed 19th in the 200 fly prelims to qualify for the finals swimming a time of 2:02.62. Gaffney swam 2:02.00 in the finals to jump up to 16th overall.
  • Riley Willett finished 21st with a Towson record time of 57.06 in the 100 IM. Martina Ciriesi swam 57.26 to place 26th.
  • Bjartey Gudmundsdottir, Kleckner, Addie Scott and Ryland came in 17th in the 400 Free Relay prelim with a 3:23.84 time.
  • Bridget Thomas finished 10th in the mile with a personal best time of 16:44.29.
